Videos on studying medicine
Good day friends,
I am a 28 year old who wishes to go to medical school in the nearest future. I wish to prepare myself ahead. Please are there any high quality video series (on subjects such as anatomy, physiology, biochemistry etc) on the study of Medicine that you recommend?. The more popular, the better because i will be able to get it fast this way. Thank you
This is an example….
Understanding the Human Body: An Introduction to Anatomy and Physiology
(32 lectures, 45 minutes/lecture)
Taught by Anthony Goodman
Montana State University
M.D., Cornell Medical College -
Re: Videos on studying medicineConcentrate on getting a place first. You will have plenty of time for this in the future.(Original post by Soletar)

Re: Videos on studying medicineWhat digitalis said is right, you'll have plenty of time at medical school to learn medicine - then the chances are you'll be doing it for the rest of your life, so no need wasting your time watching this stuff now to 'get ahead'; firstly, you won't, and secondly enjoy your free time whilst you have it!(Original post by Soletar)
Thank you for your reply. But that is not what i asked you or anyone else. If i wanted that, my question would have been "how do i get a place in medical school".... You should have read my request carefully -
Re: Videos on studying medicineI read your request very carefully, 'friend'.(Original post by Soletar)

Re: Videos on studying medicine
Thank you Pi for your reply, if Digitalis uses the same logic in answering questions, then i guess his 6,071 posts are just as useless.... Who said i have a problem getting a place ? i would have specified and asked that question. Is reading comprehension that difficult? whether i deem it necessary or not is nobody's business, what i asked for is just "PREPARATORY MATERIALS FOR THE STUDY OF MEDICINE". Is there a way of underlining this?. i don't need your counseling/ advice please, because i did not ask for it if you can not help me in that respect, kindly move on and do not clutter this thread. Thank you Custer for the KAPLAN tip....money is not a problem, it is the knowledge acquired that matters. G55 , i have heard about the Najeeb videos, they come highly recommended. That's what i came here for- VIDEOS ON STUDY OF MEDICINE and not baby-sitting from some "experts".

Re: Videos on studying medicine
I repeat again, those who wish to advise me to wait to study before starting medical school, should go to the appropriate thread... The question on mine is-"VIDEOS ON THE STUDY OF MEDICINE". I do not appreciate attempts to deviate from the subject matter. Read carefully next time. It is now in BLOCK letters, hope you have seen it this time around. I thank all those that have given me useful tips.

Re: Videos on studying medicinethanks a great deal... i knew kaplan did courses for GRE exam, never knew there was one for USMLE....i am studying for the knowledge,do not care about the cost!(Original post by Custer)
Kaplan videos for USMLE step1 pretty much cover an entire basic medical science curriculum, but not cheap! -
Re: Videos on studying medicineUp Gunners, LOL..thank you, i saw this on various forums, i just need to get as many resources as possible to prepare for a September 2013 entry. Thanks(Original post by G550NDH)
dr najeeb - youtube. helped me pass 1st year -
Re: Videos on studying medicineIncidentally, he's right. You don't need to learn medicine now because you are not currently studying medicine. If you want to learn aspects of it then it's not difficult to search for "pharmacology", "physiology", "pathology" in Google and get very good resources. However, it's not going to get you a place at medical school and you'd be far better concentrating on school/college/university work and getting some voluntary experience.(Original post by Soletar)

Do you want to see videos to get ahead of first year, or to get an insight into the course content to confirm its medicine you'd like to study? -
Re: Videos on studying medicineI'm a qualified doctor, not a medical student actually.(Original post by Soletar)
Thank you for your astute observation...i would not even deign to reply him again. I thought medical students were supposed to have fast mental reflexes. How more EXPLICIT should i have made my request? i said "VIDEOS", yet....
Incidentally, I've completed medical school and along that, three extra USMLEs totalling 24 hours of exams. I've researched all of the video resources that have been mentioned on this thread and do actually know what I'm talking about. I have many of them.
What is the point of watching hours of video (that is often long, complex, boring and expensive) when you won't understand most of it, will not be able to apply any of it when you aren't even a medical student. However, if you focused your efforts on getting in to medical school where you will have all the time in the world to watch dull video lectures in your spare time, wouldn't that be a better use of your time?
Your question is just a variation on the annual favourite of 'I just got accepted into medical school, which books should I buy before?' Except you haven't even got in to medical school, which makes what I said even more relevant.7
Oh, and btw...By posting a thread, it does not make it 'yours', indeed it gives it to the entire TSR community. If you had any sense, you would have taken what I have said to you on board.Last edited by digitalis; 28-07-2012 at 17:18. -
Re: Videos on studying medicineYou don't have to instantly agree with them. You should, however, take what they say on board and not just rudely toss their advice aside.(Original post by Chief Wiggum)
Right, so if someone more "qualified" gives their opinion, you instantly have to agree with them?
You aren't even at medical school yet; does that mean that if someone at medical school tells you something, you have to just agree with them automatically? No, of course not. -
Re: Videos on studying medicineSee above; I never said you should accept what they say blindly, but they have more right to comment on the subject than you do. Correct, I'm not at medical school which is why I value the advice from people on here that are -- for that very reason!(Original post by Chief Wiggum)

Re: Videos on studying medicineWell, considering that being more qualified actually just boils down to more experience, you should definitely consider that information more carefully.(Original post by Chief Wiggum)

Hence why I value and appreciate the advice given by Helenia, Renal, Elles, Daveo, Spencer Wells, randdom et al, because they will have seen and done 95% of the stuff that I will talk about and question.
