Weighing out powder...
I bought some whey protein and instant oats off myprotein, but I forgot to get their scoop as they do their measurements specifically to their scoop, which I believe is 25g. I have a 50ml scoop from a sci mx protein tub a while back.
The whey protein says I should add 1 scoop (25g) to the milk. Is that just 1 scoop of my 50ml scoop or half? .. double?
Previously with my other protein, sci mx : http://www.sci-mx.co.uk/shop-by-goal...rotein-system/ it was to add 2 scoops of the 50ml one. So I assumed this for my current protein, http://www.myprotein.com/UK/products...t_whey_protein and just whacked in 2 scoops. It tasted normal, not any thicker than it should be, but is this correct, or am I adding too much?
With the instant oats it says to add 100g, so by the above logic I added 4 scoops. It didn't taste specifically thick or anything.. Are my proportions right or did I just have a massive carb intake...?
Thanks -
Re: Weighing out powder...
You're confusing mass and volume.
Protein powder and oats have different densities. The density of (a generic) protein powder is approximately 0.5 g/ml so for 25g you need to measure out 50ml.
When the protein powder packaging says one serving is 25g, and they also provide you with a scoop, that scoop is usually the size of one serving.
To work out the right quantity of oats, you should probably find yourself a set of scales. Or some quick googling comes up with 90g of oats equivalent to 240ml in volume, so if you wanted 100g of oats you'd need about 5 of your 50ml scoops.
