    Contracts Question
Hello, I have been offered a job from a school in South Korea. The start date is the 20th of August.

I'm all set to go. The only problem is that I need to find a housemate to replace me in my student house.

If I accept the contract, and I can't find a new housemate (and therefore have to stay in England), what are the consequences?

    Thanks

Depends on the terms of your employment contract, what does it say about terminating your employment? There's normally a notice period.

If they haven't spent any money on you (i.e. paid for your plane ticket or accomodation, or given you any wages in advance) I don't see them having a massive issue with you not going. they'll not be pleased obviously, but if they've suffered no financial loss its not really worth coming after you for.

Do you still have a copy of your tenancy agreement as it may say something about it in there

It is probable that you'd still be expected to pay rent until you can find a replacement. You could try advertising it on gum tree. Around this time a lot of students are looking for accommodation for September, so start advertising :yep: It may be worth discussing this hypothetically with your landlord to see what they say... it may put your mind at ease before accepting the job contract.

I don't see what the problem is past having to pay the rent you'd owe if you were staying in the student house, and that ought to be covered easily by a proper full-time job
