Jus wondering if UCAS has made a mistake. Its says my course start date is 1st September when thats a saturday lol ? anyone else ucas says the same?

It says the same for mine. I think that the term starts on the 17th

Don't worry, we don't start on the 1st if its the 17th accommodation moving in dates with be the Friday, Saturday and Sunday before it.

Yea Ucas made the same mistake on ours.. I booked my work holiday and work transfer around the 1st... Now I've got 2 weeks off.. 1 Week of working then I have move.. transfer jobs.. settle in and might be working when everybody is going out getting drunk.. Not pleased with UCAS at all.... Not a happy bunny..

How do you check where your course start date it? Can't find it?

Hello people, it's not a mistake but just the standard default date that UCAS put in for all Universities. The official start date is 17th September for term, but obviously each of your courses may have their own individual start date. You'd receive that date with your offer letter.

Thank you for the info. But can I just ask what letter? I've looked through all my letters again and can only find 'your course starts in September 2012 with a point entry of 1'.

Yeah my UCAS letter stated that I started MMU on the 1st, but I actually start on Monday 17th!

try going on to UCAS track it normally should tell you there but sometimes its not always the start date e.g mine said 1st but start date is actually 17th.

Tried track but, like you, it just says September 1st.

I contacted MMU anyway. I asked them the real start date and he said 17th.. So I take it every course starts on the 17th?

probably. maybe different for different courses. 17th is welcome week

yeah welcome week is something like meeting everyone on the course getting your time table. etc

All courses will start the 17th (which is freshers week, actually 'proper' lectures will start the week after.) unless clearly stated otherwise (for example october or january entry.)
If your ucas says 1st of september, and you are going to MMU you will be able to move into accommodation on the 14th, 15th or 16th, freshers week will be 17th through to the sunday. Actual lectures will start on the 24th.

Its not a mistake on ucas - It's always been that way. Was for me last year at another uni

Welcome week is Freshers week just by a different name, very few unis refer to it as 'freshers'. You'll have lectures during this week to get your timetables and introductory lectures. More info can be found on the enroll part of the website, once they get around to uploading the specific information for your course.

Just seen my timetable for the first week anyway online. You were right, does start on 17th.

And I'm planning to move in 15th/16th.

It's the 17th. Don't worry guys, UCAS always puts in 1st September as a default date but the University officially starts 17th. All courses differ so some may start properly (i.e.lectures) a few days after this.

International students that are attending the Welcome Programme from the 12th September can book accommodation earlier.

Don't know what to do about freshers because I'm not living in Halls so I won't know anyone/have anyone to go out with! *cries*
