Re: Worst experience on public transport whats yours?
I was taking the train from Cambridge to London, had to catch the last Eurostar to Brussels (with around 1,5 hours spare time) but the train from Cambridge ended up arriving at King's Cross with a 2 hour delay. I ran into St Pancras pretty much at the moment the Eurostar ticket desks were closing. Luckily there was still an employee there, who changed my ticket to one for the first Brussels train on the next day. I ended up spending the night in Costa Coffee at St Pancras International and took the first Eurostar home... And I also got compensation from the British train company - 20 pounds worth of railway vouchers which I probably will never get the chance to use :P

Re: Worst experience on public transport whats yours?Yes, I totally agree. Lets not give any thought to the drivers in the cab and all of the haunting thoughts they must have when it happens to them.(Original post by llessur123)
How dare that man dying interrupts your GP appointment.
Lets just concentrate on someone who decided to cause a hell of a lot of pain and suffering for the tube driver, and not on the tube driver themselves. -
Re: Worst experience on public transport whats yours?
true story.
some guys came onto the top floor of the bus and didn't want to let me get off until I gave them money. they threatened me with broken glass and knives. the worst part is, there were 4 other people on the top deck of the bus and they all apparently "got off" at the next stop and left me all on my lonesome...

Dubai Metro at 3pm
45 degrees celcius outside, train is crammed with sweaty men with pot bellies, air con can't cope with the increased body count, smell of stale sweat from workers after a day working outside.
Plus arabs generally have less sense of 'personal space' - so expect to have sweaty shirts bumping into you incessantly throughout your journey. Practically no-one gets off until one stop (where you can switch to the other line) so it gets worse and worse until you want to scream, and then the train completely empties. Psychological trauma abounds...

I waited for a train in India that was delayed by nine hours, and when I was sleeping on the floor in the waiting room, a rat ran over my head.
That's actually true. -
Re: Worst experience on public transport whats yours?
I was on the tube, about to sit down, and removing my hefty backpack slowly and carefully so as not to whack the guy in the adjecent seat in the head with it. The train started to move and I was put off balance, and found that my feet were barricaded in position by a suitcase I had on the floor, and other people's unmoving feet. I started to fall, knew I could do nothing, and had a face like
as I went down. Landed on my arse, but was helped to my feet again by several guys, who made sure I was alright, which was nice. Embarrassing, though.
I then contemplated the duration of my embarrassment, because pretty soon all the people who had witnessed my fall had left the train, and for all anyone else knew, I had sat down nice and gracefully.
EDIT: Reading back over the thread, I got off lightly with my worst experience!Last edited by sweeter than a cherry pie; 31-07-2012 at 20:38. -
Re: Worst experience on public transport whats yours?
I was on the tube during rush hour and a little fart popped out (you know the ones you cannot control). I coughed to try and cover up the squeaking sound of the fart, but it was too late at this point. I knew it was a stinker because I received scowls from the surrounding middle-aged women.

On the bus one time at night and there was this group of typical lads and they decided to dedicate their entire time to calling me Janet Devlin (I don't look like her...except I had red hair at the time and am pale). On the tops of their voices on a crowded bus.- 'Oh Janet! I vote for you every night! Sing us a song! Oh Janet...Janet.... Janet! Seriously the whole time. And then one stood beside me and did a sort thrusting dance...so embarassing
safe to say I've never returned to that hair colour.
And then another time, when I was 15 sitting at the back of the bus 2 old Asian (Indian I think not sure) men got on the bus...and then one walked towards me and started saying things like how his friend would like to marry me and all **** like that...and I started laughing awkwardly and he was like 'don't laugh he has a black belt in karate!' While the other one is watching with a creepy smile and clearly not understanding a word of it.
And then various other times when you stop the bus, walk down to get off and the bus suddenly swerves and you swing with it falling onto someone while you say 'sorry sorry!' While shuffle off the silent full bus.Last edited by EffieFlowers; 31-07-2012 at 22:17. -
Re: Worst experience on public transport whats yours?
One embarrassing moment for me was when i was sitting on the bus once and it was all quiet and there was plenty of spaces around. At one stop this random guy hopped on and literally walked up by me and literally sat on my leg!
I was like "ermm excuse me..." and then the guy slowly got off me and smiled at me in a dirty way!!

Re: Worst experience on public transport whats yours?
A wasp once flew through the window of a bus, and with me being a bit of a 'tard around wasps, I decided the best way to deal with it would be like how Neil deals with the fish on the Inbetweeners (except more stamping less punching - that would have made me more of a 'tard.)
Caused a bit of a scene.Last edited by J_Dilla; 01-08-2012 at 01:20. -
Re: Worst experience on public transport whats yours?hahaha(Original post by Spaz Man)
I accidentally stepped on a guy's bags on the tube and he shouted at me (in front of his little kid) that he'd rip my balls off if I did it again. (I didn't)
