Does Japan have any chavs? Just curious, I've never been there before but it strikes me as a sort of polite country with very little crime. I know everyone has different opinions of these places but I was amazed during the tsunami there was absolutely no looting, compared to New Orleans where there was lots of looting after their hurricane and the looting that went on here in London after the riots lol.

Do you see chavs in Japan with hoodies on giving you the fingers, are there any chavs hanging around off licenses there outside temples say and places of historic interest in Tokyo?

Would Japan have quite a lot of people like that like the way we do in our cities?

Well you've got the Yakuza, but even then, "following the Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami on 11 March 2011, the Yakuza sent hundreds of trucks filled with "food, water, blankets, and sanitary accessories" to aid the people in the affected areas of the natural disaster"

Chavs are nothing in comparison to the Yakuza.

Because they have a forest where people who cant cope with everyday life go and commit suicide.... or maybe you just dont know it tht well.. its like people coming for the olympics wont necessarily see loads of vicky pollards roaming around oxford street and the olympic village!

Well, I think the race in Japan is all about being cute, and most seems to be lots of entertainment. The thing I meant by "cute" is that almost all girls have some sort of cosmetic as such as the girls heavily filing their teeth, etc.

The "chav" phenomenon is just simply an influence, and countries have different mainstream influences.

And yeah, chavs do contribute to crime, but then again, so do the barbie dolls in Iran.

Chavs are a british thing.

However what are chavs? IMO they're low-life scum, no direction in life, depression that they disguise as aggression.....

You'll find people with that description in every city, except they're not called chavs....

Even in Spain on the Balearic island of Menorca, which is the smallest most family orientated island, still has thugs, even though there's a population of about 100,000.....

Japan doesn't have chavs because it's a British sub-culture.

They will almost certainly have a similar 'underclass' if you will, as their culture is very ordered and places emphasis on social status. I can't remember what they're called but people who's ancestors are from certain areas historically are still viewed as undesirable centuries later.

I'm sure Japan has their own version of people who are 'chavs' expect they would be very specific to Japanese culture, hence they wouldn't be called chavs.
