Re: CREDIT UNION vs MUTUAL FUNDS
Do you mean the difference between a credit union and a mutual?

Not my specialist subject, and it likely varies depending on the country, but a credit union is a co-operative, whilst a mutual isn't necessarily. As such, a credit union has to have "concern for community", whilst a mutual does not.

In the UK, a credit union has to serve a particular "community", e.g. geographic (like a specific town), a specific industry (Policing, for example) or a specific organisation (there is a credit union that solely serves GMB trade union members).

Credit unions offer savings and loans, generally to individuals, like a bank but much smaller and with tighter ethical guidelines.

A mutual fund, on the other hand, is something totally different, and totally different to a mutual. It is not personal banking, but something that buys securities rather than engaging in offering savings and loans to ordinary people...
