    Recommendations for new razor please
It's about time I bought a new razor, could you recommend any?
Mainly interested in how well they shave plus prices for replacement blades.

Also any ideas on what foam/gel to use as lately I've been breaking out it a rash/spots under my chin shortly after shaving

Gilette Fusion Pro Glide + Wilkinson Sword Hydro Shave Cream + NIVEA FOR MEN Sensitive Post Shave Balm.

Great shave, no irritation and a nice balm at the end. Good start to the clean shaven day. :yep:

Gilette fusion. blades are expensive, but last a while. First time you shave with them, you feel absolutely no coarseness, and they literally glide. Haven't found this among many other blades.

Plump for whichever system razor offers the shiniest packaging and the most ludicrous amount of blades in a cartridge. Bonus points for words like 'power', 'fusion', 'enhanced', 'ultra' etc. The replacements will be a false economy regardless of what you buy. Perhaps consider a RazorPit to extend the life of the blades.

OR click the following for my actual advice:
    Spoiler:

A razor that'll last you for life and blades costing circa 3p per shave. Learn how to wet shave properly and your skin will thank you for it. You can opt for a brand new razor or - a better option still - find a vintage razor. The two vintage Gillette razors I recommend below are excellent starter razors on the mild/forgiving end of the spectrum. Your grandpa is likely to have shaved with such a razor.

Newly manufactured: Edwin Jagger DE89 (£20) or Merkur 34c (£30)
Vintage option: Gillette Tech or Gillette Super Speed (~£20 - ebay)
    100 x Astra SP blades - £10

Ditch the canned stuff and go for a soap or cream lathered with a brush. I'd recommend this brush and this cream. The cream'll last you about 6 months. Again, your skin will thank you for it.

£50~ all in, yes, but from that point onwards your outlay is minimal and shaving goes from a chore to a ritual.

    I use these ones:

They aren't anything special, but they do the job well and aren't too expensive either. Very smooth on my skin too and I have sensitive skin as well.

Gillete proglide are good. If you're getting a shaving rash you might be better off with an electric razor- boots are currently flogging off a Braun 340s that's usually £110 for £45, which is a few months of pro glide razors but will last at least a year before you need to replace the foils. So it's cheaper and it's less likely to give you a rash.
