Some Help and questions :(
So, i have had alot of lessons and just feel nothing is working for me

Im Physically small, and short and i find it more harder to drive. here are some of the questions.
When doing, the Turn in the road, Left turn or the 3 point turn.
E.g When doing the 3 point turn, when you go forward and turn so that the car the facing the house not the road, when i turn back, i cant see anything
as in i cant see when going back the end of the road, and how far my car is to touch it. when i look in the font mirror nothing. i just take a random guess and hope it doesnt hit. What can i do, the side mirrors i cant use as well.
This happens to me in most manouvers, even bay parking. i nearly crashed my car in tesco parking and the instructor had to quickly break
So what do you do?
2) Can you stay in gear 1 in a round about? and pass? do you get failed?, as i find them hard and when going in gear 2, its too fast
.
Thank You -
Re: Some Help and questions :(Im not that tiny, im just a bit short, and skinny. When you do a turn, can you see the back part of the car? and the road(Original post by Mockery)
People who lack spacial awareness, probably shouldn't be on the road.
And as for staying in gear one at a roundabout, you may get a minor with this if it results in the engine revving like crazy, which it probably will. Changing gear is easy, even on a roundabout.. -
Re: Some Help and questions :(
On the topic of roundabouts, I think you should probably try and be in second gear. If you're in first, you'll either be taking to slowly or making the engine rev like mad. If the roundabout is clear, you can even be in third if you want, although I'd usually refrain from being in third if I'm going right because I feel out of control but if it's clear and I'm going straight across or left, I'll be in third.

Re: Some Help and questions :(
It sounds like the car is too big for you. What kind is it? Smaller people should drive something appropriate for their size for the sake of visibility. It could be that the seat is not set correctly. A lot of modern cars have height adjustable seats.
When reversing on the turn in the road, your priority should be the observation of other road users, so looking through the windows should show you approaching vehicles, looking through the rear windscreen should show you pedestrians behind you. Mirrors aren't really crucial. When you feel your rear wheels are close-ish to the rear kerb, simply look over your right shoulder to see the approaching kerb through the right hand windows. Of course, you'll need some judgement to judge the length of your car, but practice makes perfect. You do need some spatial awareness.
As for roundabouts, you don't specify the size of the roundabout, but for those with any kind of physical island (with grass / bushes whatever), you really shouldn't be dawdling around it in first gear. Has your instructor not shown you how to change from 1st to 2nd with the steering "set" on a wide right hand arc? This skill is used for emerging right from wider T-junctions too. -
Re: Some Help and questions :(
I'm pretty tall and I can't see where the curb is. The best thing is to just try and judge the distance. Maybe do a 3 point in a quite road, and do the first bit right until you touch the curb, then reverse a little so you are a little bit away from the curb. Then just sit there and see if you can line the curb up with a point in the car. It might make it easier but otherwise it's just practise.
You should be in second going round the roundabout. If it is a very small, tight roundabout then first is okay, but a big one you should be in second for. You also want to be going at a good speed around the roundabout do others don't go into the back of you. -
Re: Some Help and questions :(For the love of god stop using colours in your posts. It's incredibly annoying to read.(Original post by Mockery)
