    Gap Year or Another Degree
If I got rejected by all universities I applied to for medicine, but offered a place at the university I applied to for another degree, should I take a gap year or accept the other offer?

Unless your are certain that you will be happy studying this other degree I personally think a gap year would be a better idea. Medicine is extremely competitive so if you want to reapply for that i'd imagine you will have to do lots of work experience that is related to medicine and maybe be even redo some a level modules to bump up your grades if that was the reason you didnt get offered a place. I would say that irrespective of whether you want to reapply for medicine or study a different subject a gap year would be a good idea. I was in your position about 5 years ago, I wanted to study medicine but didnt get offered a place, I made the mistake of accepting a place on a biochemistry course and hated it, dropped out and reapplied for a totally different subject. I think a gap year is a much better idea as it gives you time to think about what you want to do and ensure you apply for something you really want to do rather than accepting a place on a course that you dont actually want to do. However the disadvantage of taking a gap year and reapplying for medicine is that it is such a long course, so with a gap year you would be looking at finishing your degree when you are 24 or 25. At the end of the day it depends on your personal feelings and situation.

Yeah I agree if your not sure theres no point in committing to something your not interested in. Go travel and see what your really interested in, do useful stuff like take up Chinese language studies or Hindi so that your still adding to your skill set but in a way that doesnt cost you heaps and you hate.
    Good luck!
