Hey my agency was supposed to sort me out with this kind of holiday-time work and as yet nothing! How did you get into it?

hahaha, with a lot of effort and confusion...

my mum sent me an email for a summer play scheme that came through her work, so i applied but didnt get the job. i then got a phone call from a different youth centre saying they knew id applied for another job, but would i mind applying for their play scheme... so i did, went for an interverview, didnt get the play scheme job, but got the holiday club job with the older ones...

maybe on on local youth centre websites and have a look if they have any jobs going?

good luck and hope you find something!

    oooooooh that's cool!

i know you aren't an ophthalmologist BUT do you know what degree you need to have to be one of those?
Depends what you want to do exactly.

"eye doctor" i.e. Hardcore ophthalmologist who would qualify to do surgical procedures on eyes, and work in a hospital etc, would do a degree in medicine and specialise last 2 years in ophthalmology. (Different unis/countries offer various routes of entry)

Optometrists, i.e. the people who test vision can get in by doing an optometry course which is your standard 3 years degree.

Dispensing opticians (people like me) are having their courses phased out (although still available in a few unis), but instead, corporations prefer to take you on and train you via vocational routes.

That's the general, rough gist. I'd be happy to answer more questions specifically/with more detail if you have any.

I'm a greenkeeper/spare at a local golf hotel. 'Spare' involves getting roped in to fill a role like barman or dishwasher if someone calls in sick, can be good somedays, and utter **** others

Support officer for my local government's legal department. Nice to be around solicitors and dealing with their work and seeing how lawyers go about their daily activities. Pay's good but do miss being on £10 an hour at another council temp job I was in.

Hypothetically, if you've had a bad day at the office, once you get home, do you think to yourself "if I see one more bottle of milk....".
The only thing is...I don't have an office...

The early mornings do get you at times and I just keep thinking, why the **** do I do this?! But it's one of those things, money makes it worthwhile.
