Re: General Olympic Threadhere is one from the BBC(Original post by Pensivedore)
Is there a schedule of all the events and when they are being held/ will be broadcast?

You could also try the Olympic site. The Metro had a good one a few days a go -
Re: General Olympic ThreadWas thinking that, the narrow country roads probably play a part as well.(Original post by Deshi)
So many douchebag spectators at the road race blocking the drivers. Some guys flag was literally in the face off one of the riders.

Re: General Olympic ThreadGermans not doing their share of the work(Original post by Deshi)
Looks like we're not getting a medal in the road race.

Re: General Olympic ThreadBah it's frustrating.(Original post by Deshi)
It's a shame because if we had managed to keep up I'm convinced Cav would have won. So many people went to watch as well and we're nowhere near the front.
Oh well, Time Trial and Track Events to look forward to. Hopefully we can spank everyone in them
I have a really horrible feeling that GB won't win any medals today
Commentators must feel like right dicks. The whole race they've been going on about how Team GB were in the perfect position and then this happens
The funny thing is, I think guys who were in the original peleton actually won. The GB team just let them go, the Spaniards picked up the pace on the breakaway and allowed the gap to open.Last edited by ForensicShoe; 28-07-2012 at 15:53. -
Re: General Olympic ThreadThis is why this result was annoying. Really thought it'd be our first gold.(Original post by ForensicShoe)

Re: General Olympic ThreadYou can never be certain in the Road Race (even if the British media were certain Cav would win this time) it's so unpredictable.(Original post by Deshi)

At least the US haven't got any medals yet either

Re: General Olympic Thread
Must say, it was a brilliant win by Kazakhstan's Alexandre Vinokourov. I really though his and Uran's downhill break would not amount to anything. Then the somewhat sneaky last second burst by Vinokourov as everyone was sure Uran would take it! I would be kicking myself if I had looked back at such a fatal moment...

Re: General Olympic ThreadNot really. Cycling, Swimming, Rowing etc are all pretty exciting to watch. Then you've got 400, 800, 1500 etc. Loads of exciting events.(Original post by Denacio)
I'm only looking forward to the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay tbh, anyone else? -
Re: General Olympic ThreadYeah, those and the other track races are what makes the Olympics for me. Although I really like watching the swimming as well.(Original post by Denacio)

Re: General Olympic Thread
Maybe I'm not patriotic enough but I found the whole incessant 'where are Team GB?!' 'OMG, where is Cav?' 'Will they close the gap?!' 'Will they claw it back?' very annoying. I want to watch a bloody bike race, can you please talk about the other riders! As soon as Vinokourov won it was 'Well Done... Mark Cavendish will be very disappointed, will Bradley Wiggins have enough left for the time trial blah blah blah'.
Granted, we like to see British athletes do well but for such a long race it grated on me a bit... maybe I wouldn't have minded so much but whenever they did talk about other riders the commentators got it wrong so many times! They constantly confused Italy and Russia, got the wrong Colombian, kept mixing up Denmark and Norway and then said Netherlands come third, despite the fact the 3rd place athlete was wearing red and blue and not orange.
I do like Mark Cavendish though and he's had some rotten luck in the Olympics, hope he can get a medal this year.
