So which was best beijing or london?

I thought the Beijing ceremony was spectacular- really pretty. But I preferred the London one, it showed a lot more heart. JK Rowling, Voldy, Mary Poppins, Mr Bean, NHS... I mean what's not to love?

Honestly, I don't remember Beijing's opening ceremony, so I'd chose the London one.

to be honest I can't remember much about the Beijing one I just remember it being impressive and I htink the same of this one so I can't compare them tbh

I think theirs was more dramatic with the drummers and whatnot. But ours had a better story and more meaning.

The bit with Rowan Atkinson was great, but was probably not so good for those at the stadium.

I think they were both amazing, but person preference for me would go to Beijing. But that's just my personal opinion.

Incidentally, I'm sure a lot of posters here would lean towards London because they understood the cultural significance more than Beijing, but that doesn't mean that Beijing didn't consider that in theirs.

I'm not bitter. I thoroughly enjoyed the london ceremony, but let's face it, all patriotism aside, beijings ceremony was better. 2008 drummers in synch, not only making an amazing sound with their drums but actually making a synchronised coundown. That was beyond impressive.




Mr bean almost topped it though.

I loved the London one more because it made me feel proud and it was a feel good moment for us Brits, but patriotism aside I was blown away by the Beijing one.

But considering the resources they have and the circumstances that we held the games (declining economy and all that jazz) I think we did really well.

beijings was a show to the world. - it was china showing off how amazing they are and can be... - which was great and incredible...

londons, was a show for the UK - it was a celebration of the people, talent and uniqueness that is britian - which was great and incredible...

they both set out with two very different goals.. - i enjoyed both, but felt the london one moved me more (as im british..) - but i can see how for other people from other countries, alot may have been lost...

I don't think you can compare them both. China's one was to be incredible, ours was to tell a story. Ours was about being happy and to reference our culture and I think Danny Boyle did a great job at implementing literature into it.
