The Queen needs to step down
I noticed how unhappy and bitter she looked during her Jubilee celebrations and then seeing her at the Olympic stadium she looked ten times more miserable.

Even if one isn't a monarchist It's time for her to step down because she's not cut out for these duties anymore.

I agree. She often looks rather bored and tired Phillip still seems to be enjoying himself though!

I think it was more to do with the fact she's an old woman who's being made to sit in the cold listening to pop music whilst restraining her husband from making any racist remarks
Yes, an old women subjected to dizee rascal at 11 in the evening isnt going to be a happy bunny

I don't think it's as simple as that.

I thought she quite enjoyed the Jubilee. She seemed pretty perky considering how tired she must have been. I also heard she didn't even have to take part in anything but volunteered herself (this may not be true, I can't remember where I found this out).

Having said that, the Olympics she did look pretty grumpy, but it was on quite late for a woman of her years really. I wouldn't have wanted to have sat there for all that time!

She was opening the third olympic games to be hosted in London and one which promises to 'inspire' a nation. Making no effort at all to get into things disappointed me.

Apparently her fingernails were more interesting than the parading athletes this country has to offer on a world stage.

Personally I'd love to see the crowning of Prince William in the not too distant future.

If she can't do the job any more because of age then she should pass the crown on.

Give her a break. She's 86 and had just jumped out a helicopter!

This is an overreaction. So you're telling me she takes her eyes off the athletes for one second and suddenly she's a spoiled, bored brat? She an old lady, of course she's going to look unhappy. I can't imagine most people were comfortable for having to sit there for so long, about five hours to be honest.

How about Prince Charles having a go first?

The Queen has earned the right to look miserable while sitting through whatever collection of rubbish apparently constitutes this country's culture these days. In fact, I think she captured the public mood perfectly.

But if that doesn't convince you: imagine the same thing with Prince Charles.

    What a stupid post.

When you're 84 - why don't you sit for several hours watching a show and see if you are all smiles and enthusiasm the whole time. So the camera caught her not smiling like a Cheshire Cat - so what?

She takes her role in these sort of events seriously - hence the level of seriousness. You've just mistaken it for unhappiness and bitterness.

Oh please. So if you were at the stadium watching - the camera would never catch your attention diverted from the proceedings... ever?

she seemed happy enough to film her bit with daniel craig. I don't think anyone would look happy and enthused for the whole thing surely its impossible it was so long.she might of just been caught at a less than ideal time.

Even when she knew she had the cameras pointed at her and the world watching in anticipation she just looked like she wanted to snuggle into bed with her corgis.

Yes this may be due to old age and not that she wasn't interested. But what is the role of the head of the monarchy if not to attempt to merely look bothered and inspire the populus?

You are over-analysing her body language. I don't think it's fair to judge her attitude through the odd camera visual. Like I sad - she can't grin and look engrossed all the time.

I think she did that through the James Bond skit. Why would she have agreed to do such an unprecedented thing if she wasn't bothered about the Opening Ceremony?

Out of all of the royals, she looked more miserable.
For some reason, (maybe im imagining it) but whenever I see the Queen engaging or trying to engage in public events, it pains me to watch. As her smiles, look incredibly forced.

If I was in her position, and getting the amount of money she gets in a year. I would try to be more joyful.
