I think it's more her position as the monarch and the whole idea of her generation not showing emotion which made her look a bit disgruntled. She agreed to do the James Bond clip so i think she played her part in the ceremonies well.

I know she's old and everything but she kind of killed my spirit when she was just there playing with her nails as if this wasn't an event with all the nations eyes on us. I just wish she looked like she wanted to be there.

Oh my God, she checked her nails for one second, even though the Team GB walkabout lasted up to 15 minutes.

Is she not allowed to check her nails? Maybe there was something stuck that was uncomfortable?

This is the problem with selective coverage.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLxcyO0AX04 "The queen looks on proudly" Yeah sure, she doesn't give a s***. It's funny really, she has had 2 big events this year, 1 which was actually all about her, and she looked completely bored and disinterested throughout both of them. And it wasn't just once, it was every time the camera was on her.
Also, what's the point of her? She should step down, and hand over the crown to no-one.

I noticed how unhappy and bitter she looked during her Jubilee celebrations and then seeing her at the Olympic stadium she looked ten times more miserable.

Even if one isn't a monarchist It's time for her to step down because she's not cut out for these duties anymore.
I guess that monarchist argument about how the Queen pulls in a lot of tourists is invalid after this. Looking so damn grim all the time is bound to turn people off, especially when it's brodcast to a billion people around the world.

She's the head of state of quite a few countries in the Olympics. You know, all the ones in the Commonwealth...

Ok, so she looked bored during the Jubilee concert because she'd done an awful lot that weekend and probably just wanted to go to bed (also, her husband had just been rushed to hospital - she probably would rather be with him than at the concert) but I went to the pageant and she was smiling and waving extremely enthusiastically at everyone. Later when she'd been there for hours and it was cold she started to look like she'd rather be somewhere else but she's in her 80s. She's doing amazingly well.

Except when the deaf children's choir sang the national anthem, she had tears in her eyes.

she seemed happy enough to film her bit with daniel craig. I don't think anyone would look happy and enthused for the whole thing surely its impossible it was so long.she might of just been caught at a less than ideal time.
    Exactly!

I was actually so surprised to see that she was actually in that clip! At first when they showed the queen's back when she was writing something at her desk when 007 enters her room (or royal suite? ), I thought it would be just another actress

I think you're forgetting something here. If she steps down now, we've got...

    Oh God save us all.

God, what a non-issue. The Queen should step down because she didn't smile as much? Do you realise how daft that sounds?

It's like choosing a Head of State because of how frequently they smile.

It was near midnight, in a very hot time of the year, and the Queen has probably spent the last day or two meet and receiving representatives and Heads of State from every country in the Olympics, as its official host. I'm not surprised she was burned out. I think she's managed even better than most other people would!

The King and Queen are just figureheads.

I guess they don't serve much purpose apart from showing themselves at high-profile events.

Yet i can't quite imagine them who represents the very symbol of Britain's past colonial power being removed.

I agree, we were talking about how miserable she looks and my mum reckons she's lost her marbles. Fair enough you can't grin for 3 hours, but surely when Team GB came on she could have done something other than look at her nails! Every other monarch stood up and waved for their country or showed some enthusiasm, it doesn't look good when you're holding a worldwide tournament and your queen just scowls.

A bored Queen or President Tony Blair waving enthusiastically?

Give me the Queen any day lol.

As for team GB, she's the Queen of maybe 1/5th of the countries that are participating!

I don't blame her for being unenthusiastic. Who would be when seeing that multi-cult propaganda show?
