Come on, cut her some slack, she's getting on in years....

You can't expect her to smile and be enthusiastic all the time!

She didn't look unhappy she looked normal. Just because she's not smiling constantly doesn't mean she's not happy. If you say someone walking down the street with a huge grin across their face you'd think they were nuts.

She is 86 years old, had just been on a tour of the UK and was working all day.

I think people have to remember she is just human. Most 86 year olds are very senile and can barely get out of bed.

And did those feet in ancient time
    Walk upon England's mountains green?
And was the holy Lamb of God
    On England's pleasant pastures seen?

    And did the Countenance Divine
Shine forth upon our clouded hills?
    And was Jerusalem builded here
    Among these dark Satanic Mills?

Bring me my bow of burning gold!
Bring me my arrows of desire!
Bring me my spear! O clouds, unfold!
Bring me my chariot of fire!

I will not cease from mental fight,
Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand,
    Till we have built Jerusalem
In England's green and pleasant land.

People saying it's past her bed time so she obviously wouldn't have been happy and with the noisy music and all, but if she's suppose to represent GB at least put on a face. I'm just grateful the camera didn't focus on her face so much she's so grumpy all night and disinterested in the whole thing.

Its funny how just a few weeks back at the jubilee, it seems like she could do no wrong. Almost everyone was falling over themselves to pay tribute to her .

Idk maybe she was just sad that her diamond jubilee has ended, I heard it finished some time this week.

A bored Queen or President Tony Blair waving enthusiastically?

Give me the Queen any day lol.

As for team GB, she's the Queen of maybe 1/5th of the countries that are participating!

I don't blame her for being unenthusiastic. Who would be when seeing that multi-cult propaganda show?

Her job, which she is paid millions for, is basically to represent the UK at major events. At the biggest one for a long time she looked completely bored. "Oh but she's 86 blah blah blah" well if she's too old to do her job then she should step down.

like loads of people already said, you can't expect her to smile non-stop for 3 hours - besides she did her part by doing the helicopter scene

it was hilarious when the queen was looking down at her fingernails, then immediately afterwards the commentator goes "AND THE QUEEN LOOKS ON PROUDLY" hahaha

    No, she's not.

Or rather, we should cut her some slack. The fact that she is there is sufficient for most other people in the world. Anyway, she wasn't the main event on that day - the athletes were.

She is not paid millions to do it, the royal family are very wealthy in their own right and cover a surprising amount of their royal-duty related expenses, out of their private purse.

As for being "too old to do her job" we're very happy with the job she is doing. A monarch isn't a president, I don't expect her to act like a sugar fueled Tony Blair.

You seem to of invented a job role for the Queen which nobody else recognises.

And, some people don't have naturally smiley faces. I certainly don't. It hurts to smile that much.

The Queen isn't appointed on merit. That is the whole point of having a Queen. If we asked a King or Queen to step down simply because we don't like them or because they are too old, that would destroy the whole magic and tradition of the monarchy.

There are also advantages to her age. Most 86 year old can barely get out of bed, the fact she is doing full national tours and keeping a full diary is pretty incredible and inspires a lot of older people.

God, what a non-issue. The Queen should step down because she didn't smile as much? Do you realise how daft that sounds?

It's like choosing a Head of State because of how frequently they smile.

It was near midnight, in a very hot time of the year, and the Queen has probably spent the last day or two meet and receiving representatives and Heads of State from every country in the Olympics, as its official host. I'm not surprised she was burned out. I think she's managed even better than most other people would!
They did say that she had held something with the heads of state and representatives earlier on in the day and in the run up to the opening ceremony there were clips shown on BBC 1 of the buses leaving Buckingham Palace. She was probably tired and it was dragging on.

Most 86 year olds, hmmm, really? Must admit I didn't know this, certainly hasn't been my experience, knowing so many elderly who still have all their faculties way into their nineties!

As for the Queen, well I'm not a royalist anyway but I admit I did laugh when the camera showed her looking so grim and disinterested, looking at her nails when Team GB went past, and the commentator said "the queen looks on proudly" LOL

I was also disappointed when she looked dull, merely interested. Just sat there with no emotion.

I noticed how unhappy and bitter she looked during her Jubilee celebrations
Your husband of 65 years has just been rushed into hospital and you have to go out and work.

I think the fact she acted with Daniel Craig shows she cares.
She's 86 and it was well past her bed time.
