Re: The Queen needs to step downI don't mind you posting comments (In fact I agree with your sentiment), but many members of TSR are colourblind, and using a bright colour on a white background isn't very helpful. I could hardly read it until I highlighted the text. Please be considerate of others in the future, it's why black is the standard colour.(Original post by Mockery)
She was opening the third olympic games to be hosted in London and one which promises to 'inspire' a nation. Making no effort at all to get into things disappointed me.
Apparently her fingernails were more interesting than the parading athletes this country has to offer on a world stage.
Personally I'd love to see the crowning of Prince William in the not too distant future. -

Whoever it was at the BBC that chose to show her examining her nails was foolish

Re: The Queen needs to step down
Not on Team Queen on this occasion. I wanted to go to the ceremony, didn't get a ticket and I'd have been enthused for the whole thing. None of the royals had to apply through the ballot, they were there through birth / marriage right and they all looked miserable to be depriving people of tickets.
The least the Queen could have done would have been to say "I'm off; I'm 86" when she could bear no more. My grandmother is a Queen to me and can't do half the things she could ten, even five years ago. The Queen shouldn't be expected to either. -
Re: The Queen needs to step downThe amount of 'elite' TSRians that just love any excuse to throw around their repping power, demolishing the hopes and dreams of up and coming talent in the student forums world, plunging them into a fiery abyss plagued by red gems, amuses me immensly. Something as simple as a colour change of text is extremely effective at sending my inbox and reputation status haywire.(Original post by xander93)

However I do appologise for any difficulty it may cause you and others in reading what insightful things I have to say, but I will explain to you now that most of my posts are not worth the read, often cynical and sarcastic in nature. -

Magic and traditional is the whole point of the monarchy - its why we still have it and why most people support it. I don't think there is anything wrong with keeping a bit of tradition. -

Yeah at one point she was doing something with her nails, I think something important was happening at the time as well

Re: The Queen needs to step downIn all honesty the athlete parade was boring as hell, I think the majority of people got bored.(Original post by Mockery)

Thankfully my sight isn't too severely affected, but if that's the price of staying informed on here, so be it! -
Re: The Queen needs to step down
To be honest I think people on here need to show the Queen a bit more respect. She has dedicated 60 years of her life to her country and people and there are times (especially now when she is getting older) when she is going to look a bit tired and bored. She has had a busy year with the Diamond Jubilee celebrations as well, including the Duke of Edinburgh having a couple of health scares in the last few months so maybe at 85 she just needs a bit of a break. I feel for her having to sit through the Arctic Monkeys gone midnight and a 2 hour athletes parade, probably not her idea of fun at all!
Having said that, when the Queen does unfortunately pass away (which I hope is not for a long time yet), I think Prince William should take over the Crown, he seems much more in touch with people of today and more willing to get involved more. -
Re: The Queen needs to step downThe royal box wasn't where the camera was for the athletes so there was a mis-match in timing obviously..(Original post by Jammie_x)
