To be honest a lot of places offering more..menial..jobs may well have regarded you as overqualified, and not wanted to incur the expense/energy of training you when, in their eyes anyhow, it was likely you'd be off as soon as something better came along. But congratulations anyhow :-)

Maybe this guy is a weirdo that's why nobody wanted to employ him. There are people like that in this world and they may be very intelligent otherwise. There are plenty of opportunities to work for charities as a volunteer so it's kind of speaking for itself that this guy was only able to get a cleaning job which did not pay money. It's more than weird. Congrats anyway, let's hope you will last in that job and enjoy it.

as other people have said, whilst I feel sorry for your struggle, it really shouldn't take anyone 21 years to find a single job. For a start, there hasn't been a recession for 21 years, some years ago it was fairly easy to get a job. I mean, there are a lot of unskilled jobs available if you look hard enough... Anyway, well done for finally getting a job, though your career prospects are probably not that great with no experience. I suggest you start paying into a pension fund now, and quickly...

I reckon your toilet cleaning fetish put employers off.

If you look terrible from acne, have a geeky voice, tad overweight, and talk like a monotonous drone, it doesn't matter what qualifications you have, finding a job will be more difficult.

I am not saying you have this, but is possible.

First job at 42? ....I don't mean to be rude, but for some reason I don't believe this - doesn't add up to me. But if I am wrong, then congrats!

the reason is you didnt have experience, so as a result no job. it doesnt matter what degree you have if u lack experience i would not employ, even if you are Eulers brother i would not give a ****
