Just checking because from what I hear, the majority of universities make you pay your first-term accommodation fee BEFORE you're even allowed the key to your room. If you cannot pay, they won't let you into halls. As far as I'm aware Aber does it in three installments (Nov, January and April) but we DEFINITELY don't have to pay for the first term in November, do we? Just double checking because I'll have less than £100 in savings before the 21st September!!!

Accomodation is paid for in 3 installments in November, January and April but you have to pay a £100 deposit beforehand.
http://www.aber.ac.uk/en/media/16312...3-02-12_en.pdf3. ACCEPTANCE FEE
A sum of £100 is payable in order to reserve a room in Residence.
At the start of the academic session, or on taking up residence, this
sum will be allocated as Caution Money against security for the
performance of student’s obligations under the Licence Agreement.
The £100 sum, less any deductions for damage caused, will be dealt
with by the University in accordance with the terms of the Licence
Agreement at the end of the academic year or earlier if the Licence
Agreement is brought to an end early. -

They won't bill you for rent until sometime in November, correct. Moreover, the staff can be quite lenient with payments if you have a good reason - my flatmate hadn't had his student finance through, and they let him pay his first installment in December. As said above, you've also got to pay £100 for what is essentially a security deposit - not sure if you've got that out of the way or not...
protip: pay your rent termly rather than monthly, that way you pay your rent in three blocks which coincide (roughly) with your student finance payments - this is a good way of making sure you dont get into rent trouble.
protip no2: you don't really have to keep your room in particularly good condition to get your security deposit back :3
