Industrial Design and Technology and Product Design
Hi to all , I start the Industrial Design and Technology course at Brunel university in September and I would like to know from any current students is it worth me splashing out on a high end laptop for my first year? will we be doing any solidworks work, rendering, or any other work that required a high spec computer? Or should I just get a fairly good computer and then get a high end laptop in my 2nd, placement or 4th year?

Hey I'm going to be doing Product Design and starting at Brunel this time next month too. Obviously I can't give you advice as a current student but what I've personally done is got a laptop with a separate graphics card for any CAD that we do. If you're still in debate about getting a new laptop then perhaps contact the department about what they would recommend. Hope that helps somewhat and can't wait to start in Sept!
