Robert Gordon University
Hi all,
I have received an offer for a masters course at Robert Gordon University (MSc Fashion Management) I also have offers from Glasgow and London, but finding it tough which one to choose.
I am just wondering if anyone has studied this masters and what's it like?? Also what is Aberdeen like in terms of living expenses etc... Where would be a good place to live that's close to the campus but suitable for a masters student (I don't think living with 1st years would be a good idea)

http://www.facebook.com/groups/362219974442/ is the facebook group for Fashion Management at RGU and you might be able to get in contact with some of the MSc students on there. The course has only run for 1 full year, so there are only a few who would be able to offer advice!
In terms of living, most of the halls are in the city centre, however there are halls on campus too, (Garthdee Towers) which are more popular with PG and mature students. If you don't want to go into halls then there are flats and rooms in Garthdee if you check Gumtree, ASPC, Zoopla etc. For studying in Garthdee and living nearby then AB10 would be the postcode that you should search in. AB10 is mostly resedential and includes the university and also supermarkets ASDA, Sainsburys etc and the city centre is around a 30-35 minute walk and there is a regular bus service. You'd be looking to pay anything in between £250-400 per month in a flatshare. I paid £270 one year for a double room in a 3 bed house in Garthdee but it was really outdated, kitchen and bathroom badly needed replacing. I paid £375 the next year for a lovely and recently refurbished double room in a 2 bed top-floor flat, but friends in the area were paying £340/350 for the same quality but on ground floor. If you don't want to share then a 1 bed flat in AB10 would be around £550-600 per month. Bills (electric, gas, internet) in a shared flat/house would be around £30-50/month. Aberdeen is definitely cheaper than London, but a little more expensive than Glasgow (and we can thank oil & gas for that!) -

Thanks for all your help. The info was very beneficial and will be a great help when I am looking for somewhere to live etc if I choose Aberdeen.
