Do Student finance take into account the previous year only?
I'm hoping to go to Uni in September this year. I've already applied for student finance and got that all sorted. But recently my mother has just got a new job with much better money... do I need to now inform Student finance of this change, or do they only base their loans on the previous year's income?

They need to know, they use the previous year only when it is going to be the same. This is because a students parents can prove that easily but won't have the current years proof until next year. If it is going to be different you will need to tell them, or they will just know next time anyway and it will cause more problems for you later having reduced amounts etc.
