Student Finance: if your parents lose their job a year after application?
    Hi!

So say you have been at uni for one year- come the 2nd year and your parent has lost thier job/has a lower paid job, does this make you entitled to a higher grant etc?

Both from the uni and goverment?

    Thanks!

As far as I know they take the information from the previous tax year I.e April 2011- April 2012, so possibly not, but on your third year the changes will occur - your university or college themselves might have some additional support though.

you'll need to do a current year assesment which is seperate to the main form but that should get you the extra money if this results in a significant decline in income- think its around 30%, and the uni will see whatever you've sent to student finance when assessing you for a bursary.

Phone student finance - there's a change of circumstances form that you can fill in when there has been a significant (~15%?) decrease in income.
