There was a black rat in my room!
    Okay, I seriously need help!

I was looking relaxing in bed watching something on BBC i player when I saw something quite big and black run across the skirting board!

Now, Im hoping to God its not a rat, but it was big enough to see and to get my attention!

We had mouses in our house before but I caught the mother ****ers!

Im seriously afraid and wont be able to go sleep tonight as Im thinking it might jump on the bed!

I honestly dont know how it got into here, but I shouted at my mother for leaving the bathroom window open where there is a pipe by teh window! Also, if it had been here for ages inside my house, Im sure we all would have been able to see it long before....

Im really not sure what to do! Ive had a bad experience with a rat when I was 5 and was walking at night when one pounced and rowed at me when I walked past it! also, when my aunt told us her husband had been attacked by one when opening the bin,Ive always been fearful of them.

Please help me on what I should do! If I get a big glue trap, will it stick on there as I know it is big and they are able to escape.

Please share your experienceson how you got rid of an actual rat (not mouse!) and how to stay safe.

In my experience, they are clever little buggers and are excellent at avoiding traps.

Can you sleep in another room tonight and try to sort it out in the morning?

We set up multiple mice traps, after and during building work with some nutty cheeses, and caught the little buggers red handed

I know they are! thats whyI had to spendsoo much money on glue traps when the mouses were here!

I could sleep in my sisters room since she is not here.... But, her room has clothes all over the place... so im afraid, it might be there!

Tempted to be 'that kid' and say 'SO WHAT IF IT'S A BLACK RAT!??! WHY DID YOU INCLUDE ITS COLOUR IN THE TITLE!?'

We have a house with a flat roof so we constantly get all sorts of animals walking on our roof and you can hear it through the ceiling. Can't imagine having them scuffling around inside my house :/

To be fair, the last time we had rats I set up my air rifle on the seat and waited, aiming at the hole they came out from, for two hours. Took out three of the bastards and then poured a bag full of poison down there for good measure.

If you don't own a gun, simply follow step two.

Leave some chocolate on the floor in a room you don't use much. Quietly watch and wait for the rat to appear and start eating.

Shut the door and trap it in there. Tommorrow, brick the room off and pretend it never existed.

    Inb4ratgluetrapsare"inhumane".

I doubt it'll climb on your bed. Although a mouse jumped on my sisters feet once. And rats can be cheeky little critters.

But if you're that scared sleep in another room. Although I don't know what would stop it from going to the room you move to.

Next day buy some poison and also make sure to seal up any holes or crevices to prevent giving them even more access to your home.

The reason why I mentioned the colour is to tell people how serious it might be! secondly, I am not racist or prejudiced against religions, colour, ethnicities or whatever! and as an aspiring pilot, I cant be racist if Im gonna be going around the world!

Set up a lot of mouse traps and sleep on the sofa or something for the next few nights in the hope its caught. Just remember, its probably more scared of you that you are of it

you should buy a cat. not a pussy little cat a big ****er that can deal with rats. since you get mice as well it seems like a good investment.

I pity you... there were 2 mice under my bed once. At 3am in the morning I saw one had chewed a hole in my school bag and entered inside it.

It was eating my jaffa cakes.. anyways I quickly grabbed the bag, covered the hole and took it outside, it jumped out.

I thought I was safe, but the fear of another one being in there terrified me.

Sleep in the hall, thats what i did.
