Re: Where do you study in the UK??Cambridge(Original post by Kerry567)
Hello!
I´m searching for an good university
in the uk.
I´ll get my A-levels next year and want to
study but I don´t know where!
So pleas tell me some good universities!!
Thanks
Oxford
LSE
UCL
Imperial
Warwick
Durham
St. Andrews
Edinburgh
Bristol
^ *probably* (not definitively) the top ten. Of course others will differ, this is just a quick list off the top of my head.
Do you study abroad or something? I thought you need to apply in Sept/Oct time so you're leaving it a bit late. -

Firstly congratulations on making the decision to study at University.
What subject are you hoping to study?
I'm also looking to go to University next year, and have already been to a couple of open days etc, and got a rough idea of where I'd like to go. I've based my choice so far on a mixture of things, including League Tables, Reviews, Open Days etc.
1. You can see the top unis here, and should also be able to filter the table by subject. http://www.guardian.co.uk/education/...gue-table-2013
2. Here you can see reviews and search for universities.

Good luck. Hope this helps.

Re: Where do you study in the UK??Apart from the referenced league tables above (which are really helpful, especially if you filter them), on UCAS you can do a course search which I found really useful(Original post by Kerry567)
Thanks! I like to study something with business!
Like business studies or international business!
But I´m not sure where I could study this.
I really like to go to such open days, but thats difficult for me because I don´t live in the uk!!
I'm starting an EU languages and management course this year so I've looked at courses exactly like what you're interested in
Also, are you an EU or an International student? -
Re: Where do you study in the UK??Well if you're an EU student then that's good news, you should qualify outright for a tuition fees loan(Original post by Kerry567)
That sounds really cool! You're a lucky one
Ok I´ll search for my course
I´m a EU student!
And where would you start studying?
Hehe thanks!
I'm going to Lancaster University, which is consistently top 10 overall and one of the best for student satisfaction and languages. And great accommodation
There are so many universities in the UK and you get 5 choices, there are a lot of factors you could take into account. It depends on what matters to you.

Re: Where do you study in the UK??
Not sure what the policy is..
http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Educatio...ries/DG_200385
You could try there? It's for this year 2012/13 but probably won't change a lot for next year. -
Re: Where do you study in the UK??I think that if you're an EU student you don't have to pay tuition fees in a Scotland university, but I'm not sure if you get maintenance loans or anything. I'm not entirely certain though, you can check that sort of thing out on www.direct.gov.uk(Original post by Kerry567)
Yeah but if you´re studying in
scottland you haven´t to pay anything?!
Or do you have to as an EU student?? -
that's right! as an EU student at university in Scotland, there's no tuition fees! and you'd probably find it fairly easy to get grants/loans for living expenses if you wanted to.(Original post by Kerry567)

Yeah, I'm a Scottish student, and they had the price of the course I'm hoping to do on a slide show at the applicants day - there's no way I could have afforded it! Plus, even if they do introduce fees, if it's done after your course starts you shouldn't have to pay anything. Generally, it's the same fees the whole way through the course, so in other words it should be free for you!(Original post by Kerry567)
Sounds good! So I don´t have to pay
fees! And I really hope that it won´t change
during the next year! Are the fees here in england
(e.g Oxford) really soo expensive??
As a Scottish student, I didn't even bother looking at the English unis, but I think that generally, fees are about £9000 a year.
As for your question regarding living expenses in Aberdeen/Edinburgh I think it truly depends on what area of the cities you're looking at! Halls are the best way to go, at least for the first year until you meet people to share a flat with! -
because I applied quite late, I never actually went to any open days, however the two unis I picked for my firm/insurance offered "applicants days" where you got a more detailed tour of the faculty you've applied to. I would definitely recommend going to any kind of open day, as they give you a feel for the uni that you just can't get unless it's firsthand! it also gives you an idea of what's available, which was again useful for me because I could have a look at the labs!(Original post by Kerry567)
That sounds Great! No fees
so you've been to an visiting day?
was it useful?
Do you think that I should go to one? -
Re: Where do you study in the UK??We say 'a' if there is a consonant as the first letter of the following word:(Original post by Kerry567)

Do you think that I should go to one?
e.g. a train, a boat, a cat, a lamp
We say 'an' if there is a vowel
e.g. an olive, an eagle, an answer
Alles klar?
Manche worte kommen darauf an, wie man sie sagen. z.B. wenn man spricht, kann man "an horse" sagen, wenn man es wie "an 'orse" ausspricht

Re: Where do you study in the UK??Take a look at the Russell Group universities if you're aiming high. There are many other great universities not on that list though! Take a look at the subject area you wish to study, look at the entry requirements, and make a list of the universities which appeal to you. University/Subject league tables aren't the best source of information, but by looking at a few you'll gain a general idea of the ranking of each university.(Original post by Kerry567)
