    Work Exp question
Hi I have had 3 weeks of work Exp with 2 diff surgeries but the thing is I don't knw what to ask the dentist . Like the only questions which I ask them is life as a dentist and a bit about private and nhs but I don't find these questions to be that good . I wud really appreciate if someone could tell me a list of questions to be asked to the dentist.

One other question that I have is what are the things you are meant to observe and make a note of like u can copy all the procedures and etc but how do these show what have you learnt or how has this Exp helped my decision of being a dentist and what sort of learning Exp I have achieved?? I don't know how to mention what sort of learning Exp was the work Exp. By mentioning I mean how do I mention about dis in the personal statement and the interview

Sorry if it's confusing but any help wud be appreciated

    Was the degree boring?
Do you think you'll ever get sick of looking at teeth?
How high is your job satisfaction?
    Is the job worth it?
Wouldn't you rather have a job with some more variety?
Why did you even want to become a dentist? Did teeth really interest you so greatly when you made your decision aged 16/17?

Sorry if they sound like cynical questions, it's just those are the kind of questions which you need to be asking.

I don't have a clue what you're meant to observe, I have no interest in dentistry

Say how you've learnt what the daily life is like, what sort of job they do, you've learned about the behind-the-scenes background work they do, and say you've confirmed your interest in it or something. Blag = key word for personal statements

What I suggest you do is look at a dentistry interview guide, or a list of common interview questions that are asked for dentistry applicants. A lot of them have to do with how much knowledge the candidate has of what it's like to be a dentist. So if you can't answer them, ask those same questions to your dentist.

Edited Sorry Junaid96, misread your post thinking you were an applicant :P

In terms of questions I just asked things I was unsure about. You're not going to need to know how to do a crown prep but just analyse and ask about-

    -System of how they work
-Intra/inter-relations with wider dental team and patients
    -Health politics
    -Communication skills
-Anything you're viewing you don't really understand why it's being done.

Ask about things like the Jimmy Steele Report, differences between GP's and GDP's. In essence both are similar, however there are huge differences between them as primary care providers, e.g. GP's are funded for surgeries, GDP's are not. Fluoridation, amalgam are all part of health politics. Widening access, what should be done, what is key to improving oral health care.

If I am not wrong then when you say Gp's and GDP's you mean general practitioner and general dental practitioner right?? if that is the case then isn't it that gp's are doctors whereas gdp's are dentist..
I might be wrong with the abbreviation of gp's and gdp's so it would be nice if you could elaborate on that
