The EUsceptics surely love this amendment - in effect Britain is outside the EU, and obeys its laws only when it finds it convenient to do so, with no reduction of sovereignty. While seemingly assuming that we retain any advantages we wish to retain.

Who would, what, invade the UK?
Indeed, though now that Toronto has ironically created an EU block if somebody were to pass a repeal or amendement then the argument that we don't know the EU would respons would be invalid.

The reason I did that was because people used to complain that we don't know the EU's response. Now we do.

But now we do, technically we should not be using the canon amendement for EU things. In that sense, Barnetlad has a point relating to VAT.

This seems pretty sensible although the idea that there needs to be a referendum rather than a simple MP vote is ridiculous(saying that a referendum would be essential as the house is full of illogically bias pro EU people) as the effect on the people of Britain wouldn't be that big.

It's not like it was terribly valid before. More or less any big change would require new treaties and the answer to that, realistically, is no. Overwhelming majority of changes are an in/out issue.

If this motion is passed, could a bill follow to hold a referendum in the next TSR parliament? Without waiting for the next TSR parliament to be formed.

    According to the speaker, no.

With that said we could of course draft a bill, get approval from interested parties and then release it the day parliament reforms.

Sounds like a plan. Let's have a vote on the motion first.
