Re: Official weightlifting discussion thread
Most failed lifts of any session... It was Dolega's for the taking and he seriously messed it up.
I am a bit disappointed as I don't really feel I got value for money in terms of time- worked out there should have been at least 40 more mins of lifting if the 2 hadn't bombed on snatch and the others had been in it at all.
HOWEVER, it turned out to be a really exciting contest at the end, despite the low weights lifted and the Ukrainian deserved to win on the night. The atmosphere at the venue was really good, although you could tell it wasn't a weightlifting crowd - people were cheering when the athletes were at the bar and their coaches kept waving at the audience to shut up lol. -
Re: Official weightlifting discussion threadThere was one case in a lighter category, where the crowd erupted into cheers when a lifter was getting ready for the jerk. He missed it, and looked pretty annoyed with the crowd.(Original post by Becca)

But in general at least the crowd was supportive of all the lifters. When I went to watch the boxing, there was a lot of booing, which I found disgusting behaviour. Yeah, boo if the officials keep on being unfair, or one of the athletes does something stupid (like purposefully losing, or trying to buy time), but booing just because your favourite happens to be losing is lame. All the athletes there are doing something that most of us could never do, so they deserve some respect. -
Re: Official weightlifting discussion threadYeah I saw some boxing yesterday and heard booing, it was the first time I've heard it at any of the events I've watched on TV and I was quite shocked tbh. Definitely agree there is no need for that.(Original post by aivi)
