During AS I had 6 frees a week. In A2 I had a total of 12 frees.
It depends on the sch as I had to stay during my afternoon frees in AS. Where as at A2 when I only had psychology weds morn I could leave after that

Re: how many free periods do i get?
Generally there are 25 hours of possible lessons a week. It depends on your school, but at mine, we have to do 4 hours a week of lessons per subject. So that's 16 hours of lessons, 9 hours of free time every week. How they are distributed depends on your school, how long lessons actually are, staff available, your combination of subjects, etc.

Re: how many free periods do i get?
I had about 7 and 1/2 hours free in my first year doing 4 subjects! That's not including lunch and breaks, which would total it up to about 17 hours (roughly.)
I hated my free's, they were incredibly boring and the way my subjects were timetabled meant I couldn't even go in later or finish early as every day I ALWAYS had a lesson at the start of the day and at the end to be in for. I'm sure if you have half days, going home at 12 like you said, it would make your day much more enjoyable. I'm just dreading the increased amount of free time I'll get in September. This year's amount was enough to bore me to death!
Your timetable will really vary depending on what school/college you're attending. -
Re: how many free periods do i get?i got 2 frees a week. that's 2x1hr 15. As per other posts, depends on your school timtabling and how long each period is etc etc.(Original post by osama2)
i will be doing 4 subjects. i just want to know the number of free periods i will get maybe a day? howis a normal week of sixth form as in the timetable? on somedays could you go home at say 12pm? is it really scattered? thanks! -
Re: how many free periods do i get?
In most schools you would expect to get the equivalent of a day per week taught for each course
Then it depends on your school
Some will still have compulsory sports/PE
Some will have compulsory community service within school
Some will have compulsory General Studies/Critical Thinking/PSHE lessons
So each of these could take away from your "private study" lessons
Re going home at lunchtime ... this also depends on your school, not only the timetable but also their policy ... some schools insist that you stay in school for the full day anyway
