Re: The Olympics Opening Ceremony was total rubbish. Anybody else agree?I respect your views on the ceremony, but I'd tread carefully when using Aidan Burley's tweets to support such views. It probably won't do you many favours.(Original post by The Marshall)
Do not call me friend you fool. You are the damn idiot that refuses to accept it.
Oh well, since you refuse, I cannot change your cliched and stupid views.
Olympics opening ceremony was 'multi-cultural crap', Tory MP tweets.
And there it was!
I'd also avoid calling people "damn idiots" with "stupid views", simply because they don't match your own, and patronising a female user by calling her "lady".
Your argument could be convincing if you engaged your brain before typing, but as it stands you're having to resort to rudeness and cheap shots to get your feelings across. -
Re: The Olympics Opening Ceremony was total rubbish. Anybody else agree?Sure friend, you just can't accept that you are wrong. The opening ceremony has always been about the host country. That is how it has always been, I assume you have read the link I provided and are just too petty to admit that it says that I am correct.(Original post by The Marshall)

The tory MP was talking about the multicultural nature of Britain today, and how different ethnicities were represented. He apparently wasn't happy about the large number of ethnicities that were represented. Nothing like what you were talking about.
And also, if you do take it out of context as you have done, and are trying to use it as an argument for the opening ceremony being 'international' then what are you complaining about? According to you in your misguidedness about the tweet, the ceremony was exactly as it should be.
You are wrong obviously, as you have misunderstood the meaning of the tweet, but still. You are just determined to find fault it would seem. -

Re: The Olympics Opening Ceremony was total rubbish. Anybody else agree?People have been rude to me on this website alone. I have to be ride and aggressive with people them. Hey I thought it was rubbish, if you say you "respect" my views , then don't use "cheap" as your alternative. Don't try to educate me in anything. I've experienced this crap a million times before.(Original post by sequinpeach)

Re: The Olympics Opening Ceremony was total rubbish. Anybody else agree?
The opening ceremony was good. Beijing was always going to be a hard act to follow and I'm glad our guys didn't try to make it on the same scale as that - then it'd have failed. The fact that it was unique in its own way will make it memorable.
I think a lot of critics here are forgetting that almost all of the performers were volunteers. This sends out a powerful message on its own that the London Olympics are inclusive and not trying to take themselves too seriously. I was delighted to see the kids from GOSH as well as the sign-language choir. I think such inclusiveness will have a global appeal and really demonstrates the power and freedom of expression in our democracy. -
Re: The Olympics Opening Ceremony was total rubbish. Anybody else agree?
i didn't like all of it but i thought it was great that someone was trying to show how britain came about - i wasn't too sure about the bit in the fields but the bit on the industrial revolution was great and my favourite bit of the whole thing was when the 'steel' rings came together to form the olympic rings, that was great.
i liked that it wasn't pretending to be any other country - what it showed is purely britain. it won't have been to everyone's taste but i thoroughly enjoyed the experience!

Re: The Olympics Opening Ceremony was total rubbish. Anybody else agree?
the London op.ceremony was nevertheless good, but performances and overall presentationseemed abrupt and vague to a certain extent...too many hopes were fastened toDanny Boyle, who produced a good display but not a great one...it was like TheAmazing Spiderman of 2012 which lacked the word 'Amazing'! Big names do notmake an event of such stature successful by themselves...much more isneeded..probably what we expected...

Re: The Olympics Opening Ceremony was total rubbish. Anybody else agree? Then rise above other people instead of stooping to their level? There's never any need to be rude and aggressive back. You just end up looking like another tiresome troll. I respect your opinion, but not the way you were trying to get it across.(Original post by The Marshall)

I'm not really trying to educate you in anything. I merely pointed out that you might want to read up about the reaction to and context of Aidan Burley's tweet before using it to support your argument, because in actual fact it doesn't support your argument at all. I think a fairly large majority would also agree that Burley is a first class idiot.
/end of argument. -
Re: The Olympics Opening Ceremony was total rubbish. Anybody else agree? In accordance to my behavior, I am forced to overlook what I have done. Yes I have been using a crass attitude. Yes, I have said to the Lady here frightfully dreadful things. And therefore I apologies. This is not my usual behavior and I am dreadfully, as a southern gentlemen am appalled at my behavior, and so I apologize to the Lady. I have not been using my brain properly, and also , she has proved herself a great bully. Anyway, this website is like a disease to me.

Re: The Olympics Opening Ceremony was total rubbish. Anybody else agree?Let me tell you one thing, Humans have become so corrupted in the last 2000 years that there is no chance of being nice. Humans aim to manipulate and drive out the good ones. Which why is I am so aggressive. I've had tons of people being down right rude and aggressive towards me. And now, I've quite frankly, have had enough of it. There's tons of bullies out there, so I'll tell you to better prepare yourself for it. But as you say end of argument.(Original post by sequinpeach)
