Wind energy recruitment: Are you ready for a new and rewarding challenge?
Hi there, and as this is my first post here I just want to say that this is a really nice forum on a topic close to my heart! Anyway, I came across this interesting article discussing about wind energy recruitment, what qualities industry professionals look for in potential employees, and where and how candidates can best learn their trade.

I thought this would help jobseekers gain focus and direction if you want to get a job in the wind industry.

    Here is one for discussion:
I know renewable energy will be apart of our future. Do you think it is wise to study new engineering courses that specialise in renewable energy or stick to the tried and tested Mechanical Engineering degrees?

I have chosen to study Mech Engineering at Glasgow Uni but could have chosen on of the newer courses that Glasgow Caledonian offer.

The mech eng principles you study are just as valid in any of the renewable energy areas - they don't change. It is how you apply them. Most of the people who are involved in renewable energy projects have more traditional engineering backgrounds. Not to say there is no value in these newer courses, but they don't reduce the value of the regular engineering studies.
