Maybe you should put the 40 grand towards a house with a garage?

This is a motoring forum, not a 'get on the property ladder' forum.

    Slight hint of jealousy perhaps?

Small world eh? They do look great in person, the big arches and quad exhausts really set it apart from the normal 1 series. I like the white ones, just not a fan of black alloys

Sounds like you need to go and have a go in one! They have a lot of power, but the beauty of the M cars is when you drive them normally (well, the E92 M3 I drove) they feel like any other car so having all that power under your right foot isn't really a problem.

What car do you drive at the moment?
Yeah I'm with you to be honest, the black alloys and white body thing is kind of overdone. Also looks a bit drug dealer-eque, although black with black alloys is worse for that. :P I thought the white would look really plain in person but it's a really bright white, it's great, so I'll consider that as an option.

I'm gonna arrange with the guy I know to take a shot go in his as soon as possible. That's good to know re the power. Currently what I drive is the polar opposite of a 1M. Bought a new mini back when I passed my test and just kept it ever since, been looking at getting a new for nearly 2 years now. Getting so bored of it, it's fun to have a blast in one but decent handling is all it really has to offer. ^^

Not at all, I have a **** car and I LOVE it, because it gets me where I want to go, whenever I want. I worked hard for it, with my part-time job alongside my degree and paid for it entirely myself including insurance, so it makes it all the more sweeter. I don't need a new car, the people that come in my bangor (my amazing friends) make it an enjoyable experience.

It's just really funny when people have an awesome car and a **** house, like someone I know who has a lotus but lives in a 2 bedroom terrace.

Oh right. So what makes it your business, exactly?

What makes it my business is that this is a public forum with a thread that came up at the side of my screen in which I can post anything I want (within reason) including my opinion.

An opinion that no one asked for, but fair enough. Enjoy your massive house.

I don't really understand why you're on your high horse. It's nice that you bought your car and enjoy it but what has that got to do with anything? The beauty of money is that you get to do whatever the hell you want on it. If someone want's a gallardo and lives in a shed then it's nothing to do with you. Of course, you're entitled to your opinion, but it's off topic. Not that it's really any of your business but my career choice means that I'm unlikely to be in this location for long, so investing money in a house in an city I don't want to live permanently wouldn't exactly be a good idea.

No one asked for your opinion either. It is not a requirement on public forums.

FXX has posted on topic input in this thread unlike you and he merely challenged your trolling. You are just intent on derailing the thread because you've got a chip on your shoulder about something.

I don't know much about cars but for 40K can you not get something better? Maybe it is technically stunning and drives like a dream but I look at that car and don't see something spectacularly different than if I just looked at a 1, 3 or 5 series except I like the shape of all these better. For 40K, I personally would want something that really looks like a 40k car that turns heads and people would go holy **** at.

There are a lot of nice motors on there, that is for sure! Nothing wrong with that, and an R32 would be fantastic - one of them overtook me recently and it sounded incredible

    I drive a 1998 E46 328i, hardly anything spectacular

I am from the Scottish Highlands so no Sunday Services up here, although there is a thread about trying to get one up my way. I went on a run recently with the Aberdeen lot and it was a really good day, lots of stunning cars but it really didn't matter what you turned up in. It is a fantastic community and I would really recommend it

Here is the thread for the run I went on, lots of nice photos from this page onwards and a video in there too

There's a lot of nice motors, buy my GOD, around 80% of them are Douchebags.

Honesltey, it's one upmanship, people exagereating stories, people picking faults with everyones posts, and moslty narrow minded cocks.

    **** PH.

    /Rant.

Same as every other forum though really, there is a lot of dross on here too.

I have learned a hell of a lot from PH, and there are lots of great threads on there. Plus the runs are good fun too!

Have you had a bad experience on there? I have been on there for a year and a bit now and not had many problems at all.

No bad experience, but I read the home page every dinner, and my experience is only with the comments on the home page topics.

I honestly don't think any of the other forums I go on are as bad..........

Agreed. I go on the PH forum occasionally but mostly just read the news and features on there for the reasons you've said. The Evo Magazine forum is my usual one, the people on there are mostly douchebags too, but at least we know we're douchebags

To the OP: the 1M is a great car, I think if I was going to spend that money on a car I'd get something a few years older that is already quite a way through the depreciation curve though. Then again you say you've been offered it for a good price so maybe this isn't so much of a concern? If you want it go for it I say!

I'd get the 1M immediately. Not only is it respectably fast, but it's fun. 340 + 6-sp manual + RWD = Awesome. You can't beat that formula. I'd get a new 1M over a new R8 V10 any day. Also, considering they don't make the 1M anymore, you're getting a future classic.

Re: BMW 1 series M Coupe
Thanks for all the posts guys. A bit of an update on this thread. Driven one a few times now both the family friends and a dealers and I absolutely love the car! The car has such usable performance because of the torque. Even caught in the wrong gear the car really moves. Doesn't feel as planted as a cayman through the bends but overall it feels like a lot more fun.

The downsides is that BMW seem to be completely washing their hands of the key programming issue. I spoke to the manager of the M division at BMW in Edinburgh and he gave such a generic answer like 'all modern cars suffer from this, mercedes and audi do too, if a thief wants your car they will get it no matter what.' I wasn't really satisfied with that answer. To an extent I agree that if someone is really determined to steal your car, they will, but this security glitch is unacceptable. It's making it way too easy to steal these cars. In the video that is floating about the cars alarm didn't even go off. He basically implied that BMW were working on a fix but nothing is likely to happen any time soon.

What do you guys think regarding colour? I've seen them all in the flesh now and to be honest I like them all. The Valencia orange is quite a cool colour but I have a feeling that I may get tired of it in a few months time; it is also more likely to attract attention which I'm not sure I want. The white is quite striking but the black really has presence, looks quite menacing and contrary to what I expected actually makes the car look really wide. Buying black would be cheaper too as that's the colour my family friend has, but I've found some nice dealer examples too.
