Failed my driving test
It was my first time as well! I got 5 minors and 1 serious. A lorry cut in front of me when he was overtaking me and I didn't slow down quick enough. Also, I was on an 30mph advisory speeding limit on a dual carriageway and he said 'why are you going slow? Speed up!' I was just being careful! I did the bay parking absolutely perfectly as well and I was going the right way and in the correct lanes which I don't usually do. So yeah, I am gutted and the next available test is on the 27th Sept so I am hopng there's some cancellations! Did you pass on your second test? Any stories and advice would be brilliant. I am still quite upset by it but I have to accept it and move on and NEVER give up.

Re: Failed my driving test
Lots of people (including me) fail on their first time and succeed on the 2nd or 3rd. For me, I was so nervous and I cut in front of someone because I had been waiting to turn onto a road for what seemed like ages and got a serious/dangerous for that. However, the second time I was much calmer and had only 4 minors (as I did the first time - all different ones). Both my examiners were perfectly fair, so if you get another test with a different examiner then you should be fine.

I passed 3rd time but don't give up keep practising and keep at it,work on your weakness and perfect it,for ages I had a problem with anticipation and observation but I had a lesson everyday for two weeks until my test and passed with only 2 minors(Original post by skiies)

Re: Failed my driving test
Honestly, the vast majority of the people I know failed their first driving test - I did! (All the best drivers do
) I was really, really nervous, which was made worse by the fact that the examinor was extremely rude and abrupt. I only got one minor, but failed because of a "serious" which wasn't entirely my fault
If I wasn't so nervous I know that I would have driven so much better and passed!
I passed on my second time, I'm sure you will too. This examinor was so sweet and really put me at ease, so I felt much calmer throughout my test and knew I would pass.
You've got the right attitude! Good luck for your next test, when you do pass it is the most amazing feeling

Re: Failed my driving testMinor faults are things you could have done better, but they aren't a serious issue. So long as you get less than 15 minors and no majors, you pass. I'm not sure whether you can get 15 minors and still pass. An example would be parking up and not being quite as close to the curb as you could be. I got a minor for that after my manoeuvre, but it wasn't a serious issue.(Original post by ...mo...)
What is a major fault and whats a minor. examples?
A major fault is something that you do really wrong and is probably dangerous, like changing lanes without signalling or observation. If you get one major you fail. Good luck on your next attempt OP, many people fail first time so don't sweat about it.Last edited by Converse Rocker; 30-07-2012 at 18:53. -
I think that constitutes a minor, depends how lenient your examiner is(Original post by e1usive)
Your allowed to change lanes without signaling if the roads clear

Re: Failed my driving testI doubt this is true, I'd say an examiner would give you at least a minor for doing so.(Original post by e1usive)

Re: Failed my driving testYou were an obstruction on the dual carriageway. If other cars are zooming past your at 70mph and you're poodling along at 30mph other cars will have to change lanes to move past you.(Original post by skiies)

Also, yeah, if the lorry came in front of you, you should brake as soon as you saw it moving over (only if you can see it is very close to you)
