    AQA Biology Unit 5 essay
Well, at the end of Biology Unit 5 there is an essay,
I am no good at essays and defiantly not good with biology essays that need a number of other units involved.

Can anyone help with planning and tips etc...?

Okay well firstly you've got a long way to go till that exam, so plenty of time to prepare. Your school should do some basic essay plans with you, and if you look on the website theres 12 or so essay titles that could come up. If you just write a basic plan for each of these titles then im sure youll be okay. Remember to include parts from each module to get more marks.

Tbh I just did what we did at school and hoped for the best, and this june we had nice essays so it wasnt too bad

First of all, you've got just under a year to worry about writing essays, so don't get all worried now if you can't write one. The first time we looked at the synoptic essay in school was around Easter time (so you've got a good 9 months left).

16/25 marks are for scientific content. If you know the specification off by heart, you can easily achieve 12/16. To get the other 4 marks, you need to have relevant off-spec material, which could be as simple as naming compounds you don't have to know about, such as phosphoenolpyruvate (glycolysis).

3/25 marks are for relevance. Stick to the title, and address all parts of it. Do not bother with irrelevant material.

3/25 marks are for breadth. Include content from at least 3 units.

3/25 marks are for quality of written communication (QEC). Use correct spelling, grammar and punctuation.
