Olympic Opening Ceremony Soundtrack was Jerusalem/Zion.
It was played twice I think. Did those feet in ancient times... those dark Satanic Mills.
It was apt for the scene (And was the holy Lamb of God
On England's pleasant pastures seen?) for it was the industrial revolution but it was apt for the Olympics itself as a way of demonstrating the message that Zion has been built, or in the process of being built, on this land.
When poet Blake wrote his poem I am quite certain, if I am not mistaken, that he had in mind the theory that Jesus Christ and, although part of a later legend, Joseph of Arimathea, came to England to look for tin. The legend originally runs along druid and Masonic lines, and somehow the Christian Church in Scotland got a whiff of it.
What Blake probably meant was that the Christian Church came to England to build a land like Jerusalem, the city of God. This is the same sentiment found in American culture when they attemtped to build the city of God there with the pyramid motif; the city of God is not complete until the capstone is placed atop.
Everyone shares in this vision whether they realise it or not - even atheists like myself.Last edited by Martyn*; 30-07-2012 at 18:21. -

On the subject of Jerusalem as our anthem, it was also appropriate for the Olympics because of

Its either a collection of sinister symbols that are meant to form the words zion or lisa giving bart a blow job. Do you want to guess which interpretation the vast majority of the populous favors? -
