Flat, house share or private halls (mansion student accommodation)?!
I start uni in London in September and i'm trying to find accommodation.
I applied for halls but the offer expired because i didn't have the deposit in time so they suggested i apply for private halls which is much more expensive so i know i'm going to struggle abit.
I don't know whether to go for a studio flat, house share or private halls!!
I was thinking of going for Mansion Student accommodation..either Mansion Tower which is near Stockwell or Mansion SW3 which is in Chelsea. I don't know quite yet but i need to figure it out soon. And i'm unsure as to live in a twin room just because it's cheaper. HELP!! Does anyone or has anyone ever lived in Mansion Student accommodation? And what would you recommend..flat, house share or halls? Comments would be appreciated!

I will be starting on the Occupational Therapy course at Bangor University this September 2012.
I am currently living in Mid Wales.
I am looking for a room to rent from September 2012 until February 2012, or until I know where my placements are.
I have been to the area, and I can come up on a weekend to have a look at places.
I am looking for a room in a flat or house close to the University, however if I dont find anything - then something on the outskirts or beyond will be fine, as I have my own car.
If you have a room, or know of anyone that does can you please let me know.
Or I could do with some advice on where to look next.
    Many thanks,
    Gwawr

If you can afford Mansion Student then go for it - they look gorgeous but so pricey!

Their answers aren't exactly answers - they're more akin to classified ads...

I would say that as (I'm assuming) this year will be your first year living in central London without family, or anyone you already know, that it's safest for you to go for some variety of arranged accommodation (such as the Mansion properties), even if it is a bit more expensive.

Sharing with unknowns can lead to trouble and upset, but it can also bring some great moments and memories, so it's more down to how you think you'll cope with living with someone you've never met before, for a whole year.

You'll find a group of friends at university, and then you can go and find some proper private accommodation when second year comes around.

I think i will go for Mansion accommodation because i would feel much more comfortable in halls even if it is private and a little more expensive, plus there's no hidden costs. I'm contemplating a studio for £199 p/w in Chelsea or a twin room for £168 p/w near Stockwell. I'm not familiar with the areas so unsure. I know there is little price difference but it all adds up in the end lol.
    Thanks, appreciate the advice!

Halls would be the best I'd say, I think I'm in your kind of situation at the moment and I'm not enjoying it... That's purely because of the social advantage of living in halls, I'm sure you can imagine being around people who are new to uni and those who come from very different areas from all over the UK (and beyond!), being better than living on your own in a studio somewhere in Chelsea.

So if halls is nearly impossible, I'd recommend a flat/mansion share, they're pretty good & I've found myself one in Swiss Cottage today (I might just go for that in the end). Where and what will you study then?

Call your uni accommodation folk to see if they still have space in halls that's what I did as my offer expired same as you as I didn't have the deposit, but then called them they offered me a place. Will be cheaper.

Hi, I'm staying in mansion sw3 in Chelsea, I went to look round it a couple of months ago and it was gorgeous and in such a nice area, really central and safe! I'd definitely recommend it, obviously only aesthetically speaking! Have you decided yet? X
