Teenager suffering from bizarre food disorder only eats chips and cheese
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...ought-veg.html what do you think about her disorder? do you think she has a medical problem or is it a fussy eater who needs to man up and eat healthy foods?

It is pretty unhealthy, especially if she's only been eating that for eight years or however long it is.
On a slightly linked note, i've seen stories about kids who can only eat certain things due to a massive number of allergies. This probably isnt true with this girl, though. If she really feels sick, this could be a medical problem. I'm unsure. -

I actually can't bring myself to eat fruit or veg.
I gag to the point I literally throw up or it hurts my stomache. It's not the taste, more so the texture. I like the taste of grapes, apples, oranges etc. but the texture just makes my stomache turn.
If things are blended up though then that is okay. I consume tomatoe passatta (pure smooth blended tomatoes) nearly every day.
Believe me, it's not choice lol I wish I could eat the fruit and veg like anybody else just for convenience. -
Re: Teenager suffering from bizarre food disorder only eats chips and cheese
When I was around 17 or so I went through a period of about 6 weeks where I couldn't stomach anything other than chips, porridge and boiled eggs with soldiers (not combined). I'm pretty sure it had something to do with changing my contraceptive pill. Then, after only eating certain things for a while, you can lose your taste for other types of things. I'm not sure how I feel about the cheesy chip girl. Part of me feels she's most likely a bit depressed and also looking for some attention.

Judging by what she said, to me it seems as though it's not a fear of food as much as it is a fear of new experiences. Obviously her grandmothers death hit her incredibly hard and she didn't know how to cope so she took it out on the food. I'm guessing that her preferred foods make her feel closer to her grandmother/her past in some way.
I do think it's a medical problem. I've actually suffered from anorexia (or rather, "EDNOS") in the past so I can relate to the girl in the story on some level. SED might sound incredibly daft to those who have never encountered/heard of it before, but it is very real and very dangerous. I used to know a little boy who would only consume certain foods such as peas, sweetcorn and toast and if he carries on like this then what could be fussy eating at this stage could turn into SED when he's older.
