Another athlete expelled over tweethttp://www.nytimes.com/2012/07/31/sp...er-remark.html
When will these people learn...
Edit: This is what he said: “Je fonsde out les coreen allez sout vous lebru. Ahahahhahahaah deban zotre”
Roughly translates to: I **** all Koreans, go all burn yourselves. Ahahahaha bunch of ‘tards
Glad he got punished. This type of stuff goes against the Olympics spirit and it's terrible sportsmanship.Last edited by TheCrackInTime; 31-07-2012 at 01:41. Reason: Swear filter -
Re: Another athlete expelled over tweet
At least he got to the point and said he made a big mistake by putting it on twitter. The thing on my mind is what about if he didn't get caught, how many message who be there? Also how msny others are going to say something stupid before the closing of the Olympics Games.

Re: Another athlete expelled over tweet
This is all becoming a big ridiculous. Yes, people have private views and some of those are not politically popular. Thanks to social media it's practically speaking harder to keep them to yourself, while previously you would never know about them. But it's still meant to be a free society. Not liking Koreans has nothing to do with athletics, which is what the competition is about.

Re: Another athlete expelled over tweetBut these kinds of statements go against what the Olympics stand for. Namely: unity and cohesion irrespective of ethnicity, origin, culture, language, religion, etc.(Original post by damidude)
I agree with observatory: sportspeople should be able to say whatever they want on twitter or facebook without an overbearing threat of discipline/prosecution.
This type of attitude goes that sportsmanship as well. -
Re: Another athlete expelled over tweetBut we know why his attitude and comments are disgusting. therefore, we can call him an idiot, you're right, but his comments didn't disrupt the actual competition.(Original post by .eXe)

Don't you think that its wrong that athletes should live in fear over what they can and can't say on twitter? -
Re: Another athlete expelled over tweetWell he was being racist, and that shouldn't be tolerated. Especially since he is competing in the Olympics...(Original post by damidude)

Re: Another athlete expelled over tweet
Regardless of wether you think you should or shouldn't be held accountable for what you post online, the reality is that your posts are in the public domain and can get you into trouble. More so if you are a celebrity. Anyway, is it really that hard not to post stuff like that on twitter? Common sense and all...
