    Laptop Advice
    Hey there,

I don't know a thing about laptops, but I know that the one I have currently - a Vista 1.8 Ghz Processor Dell I think - is very outdated so I, (seemingly like many other people here) am currently on the hunt for a new laptop for university. As I say, I know very little about this, so I was wondering if you guys could give me advice on a new model which would be alright for essays etc as well as being able to run games like Shogun 2. Prices would also be helpful, just to know how irrealistic I'm being.

    Thanks!

If you asked last week or something, you could have got a pretty good deal for £650 with a 3rd gen i7 and GT650M for your gaming. Same one is around £729.

How much were you looking to spend?

Well, ideally a little less than that, but definitely no higher than £800. Have th summer sales properly finished then?

Press quote, than reply, so I know you've replied.

I wouldn't say they've started to be started to honest, prices were cheaper before now.
But you've got to spend quite a bit on getting a good laptop for gaming, and a cooling pad so it doesn't burn up.

In general, gaming on a laptop is a no no because of the lack of airflow in a laptop, so it constantly runs at a high temperature reducing the life of the components.

Would this be fixed by buying a fan?

It would help, but get a decent cooling pad not a cheapo one. :p:

look at the coolmaster u3, 3 movable fans
and if you can, change the thermal paste to like mx-4 or silver 5, from Arctic it'll keep your gaming laptop cooler
