Looking at the popularity and the revenue generated because of this sport, it is high time now that this sport should be included in the Olympics. If sports like water polo are included ,then why not cricket?

It should be added to make it reach to the parts of the World where it is not being played presently.Also, it will give South Asian countries at least a chance of winning a medal and therefore get them interested in the Olympics a lot more leading to interests in other sports.

T20 cricket is far too big for the Olympics. It already has its own world cup. The Olympic ethos is about athletes from obscure sports that no-one normally watches getting their moment of glory and recognition. Adding cricket would be completely missing the point. If you want to add a sport, add back softball - huge worldwide playing population, yet almost no-one has heard of any of the players. The perfect candidate.

Whatever next, you'll be suggesting that we put major international sports like football, tennis and golf in the Olympics! What a complete waste of time that would be.

I think, with golf and rugby being added, its perfectly acceptable to expect Cricket to be in there too.

I'd rather they added squash, softball/baseball and beach soccer though.

Football and Tennis ARE already in the Olympics and football has a world cup, a euro cup, african nations cup, asia cup and even champions league.

There is an age restriction for football olympics, so maybe the T20 olympics could have the same age restrictions to set it apart from the worldcup.

There is an age restriction for football olympics, so maybe the T20 olympics could have the same age restrictions to set it apart from the worldcup.

What's the point in that? If a sport is too big for the Olympics, then just don't include it. Its no slight on the sport to be considered too big for the Olympics, if anything its a complement.

However, it severely denigrates the reputation of the Olympics to kowtow to some major sport and agree to have some kind of pathetic U23 competition because they know no serious footballer would take it seriously, as if that makes it any better.
