Big financial struggle through the summer
Right, so I have to pay £390/month rent for my accommodation at uni. I am living close to my overdraft limit, have maxed out the credit card on my account last year, and I'm struggling finding employment. My current employer is a hotel and they are struggling massively due to the poor weather, they aren't getting any seasonal guests and I'm getting on average one 4 hour shift a week. I've tried elsewhere, but employers are put off when they find out I'm a student and would be leaving in september.

I get £300 a month from my parents, but they can't offer me anymore because their finances are tight too. I've tried extending my overdraft limit and applying for other student bank accounts but they won't go near me. My university won't help out because the hardship fund application ended at the end of term. So now I'm paying my rent with that £300 a month plus £90 I have to try and find elsewhere, but it leaves me with nothing to live off for the next two months. I'm going away with my friends but one of my friends has actually had to pay for me to go, but I can't even afford to renew my passport which expires in August so I don't think I can go.

But then come October, I've worked out that once I've paid my rent, paid phone bills and car insurance, I'll have £1340 left over. So it seems crazy I'll have all that then, but nothing to live off right now.

Does anyone else face a similar situation? I really don't know what to do, and even the financial difficulty person I spoke to at my bank today was lost for options...

Start telling employers that you have dropped out of uni, and then quit in september, citing a better job elsewhere.
