Well in October I'll be hopping on the plane to go to Vietnam. Pretty excited as it is not the usual type of holiday. I'll be there for 2 weeks and I don't know what the hell to expect.

That sounds awesome. Make sure you get your VISA before you go.

Are you visiting the central beaches of Vietnam around Hoi An, or Da Nang?

I'm Vietnamese, so I've obviously been there a lot of times haha :P Depending on what you plan to do and your interests, there are a couple of places I recommend you see. Hoi An, Hue, Hai Phong, the beaches and Ha Long Bay are only a few places of interest If you can, get a taxi to a couple of remote villages outside the cities. Beautiful places they are and very friendly people

It's funny how the title made my mind think "soldier". The phrase "going to Vietnam" has become synonymous with being shipped off to a warzone. I remember this joke in the Venture Brothers

There's a restaurant in Hanoi called Little Hanoi. It's so so so so so so so good, and cheap too. I don't think it's in the guide books but the name gets about by word of mouth. Not sure on that last point though.

It's raining a lot recently, but still quite humid, so be prepared! Ha Long Bay is breathtaking, I would recommend going out to Mong Cai if you can, it's right on the tip near the border where you can look across and see China =)

Came back from Vietnam 2 weeks ago. Spent my last two weeks of travelling there and stayed two weeks there. Did Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, Tam Coc, Hoa Lu and Ha Long Bay.

Make sure you eat Pho Bo - Its a beef noodle soup, I lived off the stuff and Its absolutely gorgeous.

Vietnam is amazing! I spent a month wandering around the North in June. Hanoi is the craziest place i've ever been, if you want any tips just PM me
