China advocates child abuse for the training of their athletes
At the time of writing this post China is topping the London 2012 medal table with 17 medals. 9 gold, 5 silver, 3 bronze.
They did this at the expensing of abusing future athletes when they are at a young age.
This is a travesty and shows another example of China's total disregard for human rights and the welfare of its people.
Article.
This is a scandal.

Re: China advocates child abuse for the training of their athletes
That's really horrible.
It says "The school recruits about 900 children from kindergartens in Hangzhou each year, with their parents all but forced to accept their fate"
I don't think the Chinese really get the spirit of the Olympics. They just want to show the world how much better they are compared to anyone else. -
Re: China advocates child abuse for the training of their athletesExactly, except that they are not much better than anyone else.(Original post by Cephalus)

Re: China advocates child abuse for the training of their athletesNo, they think they are. And they go to extraordinary lengths to try and prove it(Original post by im so academic)

Re: China advocates child abuse for the training of their athletesProve what? That they are, indeed, a country with no respect for human life? That they advocate child abuse if the ends justify the means?(Original post by Cephalus)
No, they think they are. And they go to extraordinary lengths to try and prove it -
Re: China advocates child abuse for the training of their athletesDo you want more sources?(Original post by Foghorn Leghorn)
Can we confirm the "child abuse" or is this more sensationalised ramblings from the daily mail.

Re: China advocates child abuse for the training of their athletes
Oh yeah Daily Mail, listen to them...
China does not force parents into giving up their Child from a boarding school to train at an early age, their parents AGREE to it.
They do not go through 'child abuse' but strict training in doing the best they can to be no.1
They are not 'punished' for getting a silver medal or anything below Gold by their coaches.
They simply have a strong work ethic that they abide to all year round.
Results pay off
Now the Daily Mail try to make the Chinese look bad by adding these intense pictures and making these excuses that are full of complete **** why... -
Re: China advocates child abuse for the training of their athletes
The article is a scandal.
It is a bunch of tripe, focussing on emotions rather than facts.
I was struggling to separate what the writer was actually stating from speculation, such was their style of writing.
Frankly, I wouldn't advise anyone to give any credence to this article unless it is confirmed by The Times, Guardian or Telegraph, to name but a few. -

Re: China advocates child abuse for the training of their athletes
Its a different culture. I remember talking to my chinese friend about it and he was adamant that whilst they do have certain issues in his Country, the Western world doesn't always fully understand some aspects of their culture. I'm not sure what to think to be honest. It isn't shocking abuse where the kids get whipped or anything like that, but you could argue that maybe the children are too young to be training so much.
