    Clearing & Personal Statement
Hi, I applied for Real Estate hons at a number of universities. I was successful and got offers however I have not got the 280 points needed. I am thinking about going through clearing if a course comes up that I am interested in - (Construction Project Management) , As I didn’t apply for this on my application my personal statement does not really relate to the course. Do the Universities look into the personal statements on clearing applications? I imagine that a lot of students who don’t get into their selected choices apply for completely different course in clearing? , I have 240 ucas points which is the sufficient amount for the course that I hope will have availability in clearing. Will I be likely to get not it if my statement doesn’t relate to it?

    Thank you.

It says you can apply for anything on every site I've seen?

I'm not really sure, I'll be interested to know too. I think it just boils down to how much the uni wants to fill places and how confident you seem on the phone that you want to do that course. :dontknow:

I do not know about the courses you are interested in

Are they similar in any way ... will you shifting from one to the other seem a natural move by universities

You could contact admissions at the university you are now interested in and have a conversation now, in advance of clearing

If you're applying for a different course through Clearing then it's worth at least bullet pointing a PS for that course before you contact any university - that way you'll have some structure if they ask *why* you want to do that course rather than just having to make it up off the top of your head.

The universities will look at your personal statement, my advice is to write a new version of your PS if you are applying to a different course, one which is relevant to the course you are applying for at that uni. Then it is up to the uni once they have read both PS's to take your application further.

I have changed my mind about my course and applying through clearing, so I have already written a new PS to send off to the uni's of my choice.

    Good luck

You cannot send the university a new personal statement - they will take into account only the one used on your application.

Universities are so keen to fill places though that as long as you have good grades and a passion for the subject they should accept you.

Not true - some universities will accept a new PS via e-mail.

It's hard to tell how a university will decide to allocate its places.

All the uni's I have approached have let me send a new PS, not formally because you can only submit one "proper" PS but I'm sure most uni's will let you send email them a revised one.
