    Job brick wall
Hi all, I'm having a really difficult time trying to find any sort of part time work. I live near a fairly big town with lots of shops (Martins newsagents, John Lewis, Waitrose, Halfords, Costa, etc) but none of these shop seem to be advertising in the windows. I've gone into most of these shops and asked but they've either said to check online or they aren't hiring. I've checked their website's to see if there is any part time work available at these places but they always comes up with the same result - no jobs.

I've tried searching on student specific sites like justjobs4students and e4s, but they all keep throwing up manager positions and full time permanent jobs which is no good for me since I'm going back to uni in September

I've never had a part time job before but I really want to earn some money and get some job experience. I'm currently volunteering in a charity shop so I'm at least getting some job experience, but I really would like to earn some money.

How do I go about getting a job when seemingly there are none in my area? I really doubt that in a town as big as the one I live near there are no part time jobs going. I've seen some people mention about signing up to an agency, but there's isn't a job agency in my area (unless it's online? I'm not sure! But if anyone has signed up to an agency, advice on signing up would be greatly appreciated!! ). Thanks for any advice!

I had a similar situation, and I went to my local civic centre. They have loads of events there, weddings, conferences, etc, and they need waitresses and bar staff. So I got a job there that same day. It's on a casual basis, so they just ring you up when an events on and ask you to come. The shifts vary depending on time of year and how many events are on, but it was a good way to make money. And, at least in our town, they hire every person who asks, no interview or experience required. I didn't know the job existed until my friend start working there. So maybe there's something similar in your area?

go on online agencies, Monster, Fish4, Reed etc. you can set the peramiters to within 10 miles of post code and part time only, and apply for most of them online. Other than that, if you drive most delivery places have a high turnover of employees so well worth asking at domino's, pizza hut etc..

There is a civic center where I am but it doesn't really hold those kind of events since it's quite small, will pop along anyway as they do sometimes have stuff going on

MMoor18: Already had a look there, still the same result as the others
