Mac OS X Mountain Lion - is it good?
Hi guys,
I was just wondering if anyone here has Mac OS X mountain lion? (latest apple OS). I have snow leopard and am considering installing mountain lion but just wanted to get opinions on what it's like. Reviews look good, should i go for it?
pros and cons please!
One thing. My printer: hp psc 1350 all in one series didn't work on lion so i went back to snow leopard. I checked HP website and they don't have a driver for lion or mountain!
It's an old 2005 printer. Does this mean my printer won't work on ML either?
Cheers!

Re: Mac OS X Mountain Lion - is it good?
I never got around to upgrading to Lion but I decided to give Mountain Lion a shot, and honestly? It's great.
Pros: It's not that expensive and for me, it only took around 40 minutes to install and set up. The changes from Snow Leopard are massive and just make the whole OS feel a lot more intuitive, there's iCloud support if you've got any iOS devices, and after a couple of restarts it seems to be running faster than Snow Leopard did (2008 aluminium Macbook.)
Cons: Like you said, there are some devices it apparently won't work with, though I haven't encountered any personally. I had to reinstall some plugins like Flash and Perian because they stopped working. For people thinking of upgrading from Lion, there don't seem to be any major changes except for the social networking support, but that's not coming until late Autumn.
Hope that helped.

Re: Mac OS X Mountain Lion - is it good?
I updated on the day of release and to be honest it's not bad but not much of an upgrade from lion. But for £14 it isn't too bad it's got some nice features like notification centre, and the new scroll bars which I have to admit are probably my favourite part of the update. As your updating from snow leopard I'd say go for it it's only £14 and considering you skipped lion you'll grab yourself a pretty nice update.

Re: Mac OS X Mountain Lion - is it good?
hi guys,
i've just upgraded to mountain lion and can report I like it. The applications run faster and webpages load faster. I also like the look of the new mail, contacts and calendar! The only problem I had was that My printer which i've had since Oct 2005 no longer works! I knew this before I upgraded though
. The solution to this problem is simple - going to swap my printer with my parents more up to date printer which is supported by ML (checked HP website)
Also just to let readers know that I upgraded to Lion when it came out but downgraded because I didn't like it. I'm very happy with ML so far though

what is that?
It's an OS which you can pretty much tailor to make it your own. -
Re: Mac OS X Mountain Lion - is it good?
Didn't see any notable changes in speed on my 2012 MBA. Can't say I'm amazed by anything on it really, although I do like the iMessage feature and use it a fair bit. Otherwise, I'm not too fussed by the notification bar or anything else.
Overall, its probably worth upgrading but I wouldn't have bothered if I'd had to have paid for it. -
Re: Mac OS X Mountain Lion - is it good?I went up from snow leopard straight to mountain lion. Lion and mountain lion aren't too different but the difference between snow leopard and lion, and indeed mountain lion are pretty profound in my opinion(Original post by Wookie42)

. I find it runs faster and the web browsing is more refined with the swiping backwards/forwards between webpages. In snow leopard you actually had to use the arrow for this!

Re: Mac OS X Mountain Lion - is it good?Oh well of course... that's like comparing vista and windows 7 or something haha, obviously the difference between Snow Leopard and ML is gonna be big since they're 3 years apart(Original post by rock_climber86)

Re: Mac OS X Mountain Lion - is it good?
It's what Lion should have been last year and for £14 it's worth the upgrade to get an OS with the features of Lion implemented correctly and not half baked like in Lion, other than that it doesn't offer much more. You can't go wrong at £14 but if it was £25+ I would have been very disappointed.
