Since golf is being reinstated, I'd like it removed now, before 2016.

Definitely shooting for me. I know it's a real skill but I simply don't like guns...
They actually use "Laser pistols" now, which, IMO, takes some of the skill away from shooting. No wind, no gravity, no coriolis effect over longer range...

    Edit: Olympic Golf? (From above).

That's not even a sport! It's a game. Might as well have Olympic darts and snooker...

I'd have no problem with that. Cycling round a track I've never understood tbh - you cycle outside... that's the point... to get some fresh air. Swimming I could maybe let in, as well as rowing, but diving and sync swimming... nope. Gymnastics... I just don't see the appeal.

Basketball is hardly played to a professional level outside of the USA... seems pointless. Others just don't feel like Olympic sports. Imagine you met someone who told you they were and Olympic Gold winner, only to then find out it was in Olympic Ping Pong. Not saying I don't rate table tennis - love playing it - just doesn't seem right as an Olympic sport. I'm sure there's a word to more accurately describe this, but I'm really tired today and I just can't think of it... damn it!
There's more to be an olympic sport than whether it feels right

horse riding, it's crap, seeing the first guy go round the course is equal to seeing the following 50.

To compliment and contrast the thread about games you want added, this is for the sports you think should be removed.

This could be a whole sport or just one event from that sport that you think is boring and pointless.

I cringe every time i watch the vault and the beam in the gymnastics, I'm surprised health and safety allow it . The girls are so young and could easily fall at an odd angle and break their neck and be paralyzed for life. Is it really worth it? one landed funny yesterday and was lucky to just bash her nose a bit.
There are risks to every sport. Tom Daley could crack his head open on the 10m platform...
Plus that would just ruin the sport of gymnastics. What would it be with only uneven bars and floor?

Is there though? If that's the case, why don't we have Olympic darts and snooker? Both can be played to incredible levels. If it's a fitness thing, then why Olympic golf? Why equestrian? Why curling* in the winter Olympics?

*Yes, whilst fitness/strength will help, it's not the be all and end all.

The one with the horses and top hats, what's that all about
so because you dont understand it we should get rid of it

"Dressage is just a way to embarrass horses". I'm not sure who said that but I do feel the same when I watch it!

But I don't know enough about it to argue for removing it. Plus I don't want to disappoint the upper classes.

Tennis should be wiped from the face of the Earth forever. It is even more boring thqn cricket.

Any sport that isn't the pinnacle of an athletes career should be removed. So football and tennis, then get rid of utter crap like table tennis and archery.

All sports which require a rating based on personal judgement. Such as gymnastics, synchronised swimming, etc. not that I don't enjoy watching these events, I just dont feel that they're fair to be judged at the Olympics

Agreed. Hence I'm going with what I feel (and getting the neg brigade that comes with it!). And feel is certainly associated with all sports. Take "feel" out of sport and you end up with competitive robots, all competing at their very best 100% of the time. It'd be ****ing dull. Feel is what makes sport interesting.

Maybe not rich but I'm sure most of them are comfortable. You have to have a bit of money to be able to give your kids horseriding lessons.

And there's a good chance that this is an understatement. Judging by the accents and names of the competitors, most of them probably come from middle-upper class families.

But this isn't an argument for removing it.

I don't know about removal. But I'm really looking forward to kite surfing being added in the next games

Your problem right but you could say they same for nearly every Olympic event

Football and tennis. The Olympics is not the most important competition in these sports.

Table tennis is incredibly dynamic and requires sharp reactions, judgement and a solid knowledge of the effects of different spins on the ball. I'm not having a go at you or anything, I just think it's definitely a credible Olympic sport
