It should be Team UK not Team GB
England + Scotland + Wales = Great Britain

Great Britain + Northern Ireland = United Kingdom

By using the name Team GB we are excluding Northern Ireland.

We should be called Team UK.

I was watching rowing earlier and they kept calling it Team Great Britain and Northern Ireland, so that miight be the official title? Team GB is the brand name as far as I know.

Yeah if you look at the medal tables on the BBC website we are officially down as 'Great Britain and Northern Ireland'

Yes, although I believe Northern Irish athletes can chose whether to represent GB or the ROI? And it is just a shortened brand name.

1 Gold, two silver and two bronze, and 14th in the table, immediately below Australia, isn't too bad. Even if the achievements of Beijing haven't been matched yet.

We sort of are. Every UK Olympic merchandise says 'Team GB' or some other variant. I work at one of the venues and I've yet to see GB and Northan Ireland. No wonder countries get confused about our country's actual name.

Mainly because they tend to focus solely on their sport from an early age and are trained to win, rather than other countries where transition into the athletes sport may have been more gentle.
