    Re: Volunteering at Zoo
I have not been to Bristol but have been to Whipsnade Wildlife park and had to wait 2 years in order to secure a work experience placement there for 2 weeks so I hope you will be more lucky! I really enjoyed it and got involved with the keepers feeding, cleaning etc. I suggest you telephone them and find out who you could email your CV to or talk about this. You are right that volunteering will be useful if you want to get a job in that area but I know it is hard to become a volunteer is they are not looking for one or already have someone else volunteering. Good luck!

Check their website for the most up-to-date info, they seem to update the website first. It's also got lots of information on the different types of voluntary roles you could do - although they prefer you to be able to commit to at least a half day a week, available during school holidays and can be with them for at least six months.

    Good luck

Have fun! I volunteer as a keeper at Whipsnade (where I also work in the retail department) and it's really interesting. We have some cheetah cubs at the moment which are a bit of a handful! But the giraffes are my favourite <3

    hello everybody!
I have had a wonderful time volunteering at the zoo...unfortunately we are shifting from bristol to another country , I would love to continue volunteering at the local zoo there..should i be asking them for a certificate or something like that as a proof that i have volunteered at the zoo before ..?

You could ask them for a reference to include dates which you started volunteering, what animals you worked with and what you did at the bear minimum. A nice comment about you would be an added extra.
