    Birkbeck Economics
    Hi all,

I consider to take MSC economics in Birkbeck however I have some problems about the structure of Birkbeck.

    1) In Birkbeck most of the students are mature

    2) Birkbeck is not in many top lists

So what you think about these point?

Are there any MSC economics - Birkbeck "not-mature" students in tsr?

    Hey,

I did the GDE at Brikbeck and know a few people who have taken the MSc Economics.

What do you mean by mature? The average age seemed to be mid to late 20s, with a few students in the 30s, and not too many over 30.

Will you be working while at Birkbeck? Birkbeck is well known for supplying classes on an evening in London, and a few people at the economics agency I used to work for were combining work with an MSc at Birkbeck - it's not LSE or Oxbridge but does deliver a solid MSc and has some excellent professors.

    Hope this helps,

    AW

I know Birkbeck is a well known school. However my age is around early 20s and I do not plan to work. So I ask, is Birkbeck really appropriate to me?

    Thank you

    Hey,

What are your other options and what are your goals? Do you want to be in London? I wouldn't really factor in age of other students.

Many people at Brikbeck are young professionals who are getting an MSc while working. Everyone is there to work and so it's a little different from a traditional study environment - especially with the evening classes.

The teaching at Brikbeck is excellent and there were students who transferred to Birkbeck from UCL because they thought the teaching at Birkbeck was better.

That said, Birkbeck doesn't have the brand of LSE or UCL, but I am sure that if you go there then you will get a first-class education delivered by some excellent professors.

Are you going to study or to improve your social life? I don't understand your worries about how old are the students in the programme.
